Before I even start, I want to say that I am a pretty big Microsoft fanboy. I never considered buying a PS4 until very recently.
As I watched Microsofts E3 conference today, I was less than impressed. Their games were lacking, and they certainly didnt redeem themselves from their terrible (TERRIBLE) announcement last month.
First of all, the games werent that great:
MGS: The Phantom Pain- Metal Gear games are good, but theyre far from groundbreaking, and its coming out on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, so this game is definitely not a selling point as you could get it on either Sony or Microsofts console.
World of Tanks- Its a good game, buy seeing as it is also on the PC, it is not a game that will have me rushing to buy an Xbox (especially since it also is coming to the 360).
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood- Looks like an interesting platformer that could be worth picking up, but, as with the other games so far, its nothing extraordinary.
Dark Souls II- looks good, but its still nothing new. Also, and very importantly, its not exclusive.
RYSE: Sons of Rome- This doesnt look too bad, and it is exclusive, but its nothing that makes me say, WOW! Im gonna go buy an Xbox One now!
Sunset Overdrive- Im not even sure what to say about this. It kinda looks like a Borderlands-type game, but that might just be the cartoony look it has. Again, nothing good enough to make you go buy an Xbox.
Forza 5- Forza is one of my favorite games, but I cant justify buying the Xbox One to play it when I could play GT6 on the PS4. (Props for the McLaren P1 though).
Minecraft- This is already on the Xbox 360 and the PC, so whats the point?
Quantum Break- This is an interesting idea, and if I had an Xbox One, I would probably pick it up, but it doesnt make me want to go shell out 500 bucks for the new Xbox.
Project Spark (Minecraft with better graphics): Not my type of thing really, maybe some people will think its an amazing idea, but it definitely is not a console seller, and it also seems like its charm would wear off fairly quickly. This game kinda just seems like Microsoft is trying to find a use for Smart Glass and the Kinect though.
Killer Instinct- Looks like a pretty generic fighter. Again, I would consider buying it, but it doesnt make me consider buying the Xbox.
Crimson Dragon- Looks fine, it could be fun, but its nothing spectacular.
Dead Rising 3- This could be really good, but again, can I justify $500 for it? (State of Decay is 20 bucks if you want a current gen and cheap zombie survival game)
The Witcher III- This could really be good, but its not exclusive, so its not a selling point.
Battlefield 4- This game is becoming like Call of Duty, its not really that special anymore.
Below- looks good, but its still not a selling point
Black Tusk Studios game- could be cool, but we dont know enough yet.
Halo- Halo is awesome in my opinion, but its becoming overused.
Titanfall- This could be really good. We dont have enough information yet, but it actually looks like it could be a selling point.
Second, the new console and new Xbox Live:
-Twitch- Who wants to watch my gameplay? I barely even watch pros.
-Requiring Kinect is still an issue for me, and the Kinect Features are in general useless.
-THE BIG ISSUE: (Maybe) paying for used games.
-Take away Microsoft Points- who cares? Youre still paying the same price. (It may just cause prepaid cards to go away and require you to use your credit card).
-Shared Xbox Live- this could be a good thing. I think it is nice to have the ability for a console to have Live instead of an account.
-More friends- how many people have actually run into the issue of having too many friends on their list? This is a nice addition, but its nothing worth announcing.
And the new Xbox 360:
-Why would they make a new one when the new Xbox is coming out? I dont know about you guys, but that makes me pretty happy because I probably wont be buying the Xbox One.
All in all, I cant see a reason to buy the Xbox One since the Xbox 360 is being supported for years to come (or so they say), and they didn't really deliver on their promise for awesome games. I would probably buy an Xbox One, but with their stupid ideas on used games and the Kinect, I think I might go PS4 or even just continue to play my 360. What do you guys think?
