So even though it's an older game I was wondering if people still play it at all online. If so I'd be interested in picking it up since I'm pretty sure I won't have any troubles running it on my computer and don't feel like dealing with a game that may or may not run. Any info about this is appreciated. I was also wondering how many maps come with the game or if you sort of download them after getting it.

so i was looking at far cry 2 for the map maker, but found out that nobody really plays online so it's kind of useless. I was wondering if there were any other games that have similar map makers in them. To make the selections easier I'll provide my system specs so that what I can't run won't be posted:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz
CPU Speed: 2.39 GHz
System Ram: 3.0 GB
OS: Windows XP Service Pack 3 (build 2600)
Video Card: ATI mobility Radeon HD 4570
Video RAM: 1.0 GB

Also, I'm fine with running at slower settings.

I think you should be able to run Bad Company 2 with those specs. Campaign is crap though.

NeonNinja

I have it for ps3 so i've done the campaign and agree it's not that great, but good for what it is. i can't play online with it cause EA's servers kick me off after 3 and a half minutes every match. Recently, everyone I know has gotten bad company 2 for the pc but I wasn't sure if I'd be able to run it. I'll probably check it out.

Indeed, buy BC2 if you want to play multiplayer. Also, if you like map editing, check out Crysis and its Sandbox Editor. You can make multiplayer maps, or singleplayer maps, and drop in a.i. or - if you have the time and are willing to put in the effort, pop some scripts and triggers in for complete missions. Or you can muck about with physics, tornadoes and nukes, and edit the singleplayer missions as you see fit.skrat_01

wow, even at it's lowest settings i didn't think i could run crysis since it is rather demanding

It'll run, but online was, is and always will be dead. You can probably play it on medium.DanielDust

ah, surprised the online isn't big for it. I may have to consider bad company 2 now, do you by any chance know if I'd be able to run that or any suggestions for a different online game?

So I've been looking at far cry 2 and was wondering if anyone can give any input to see if i can run it. I'm fine running at low settings, I want it basically just for the online and map editor because i have it for ps3 but doing the map editor with a ps3 controller gets tedious.

here are my system specs:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz
CPU Speed: 2.39 GHz
System Ram: 3.0 GB
OS: Windows XP Service Pack 3 (build 2600)
Video Card: ATI mobility Radeon HD 4570
Video RAM: 1.0 GB

Well considering all the ones I'm looking at are close to $25 that's not really an issue. I've never played a Sly game but from what I've heard here and other places it seems like the way to go if you've never played it. I have all the SC games in the collection so that can wait. Never played any Tomb Raider game, and if you buy all 3 of those seperate it's basically the same price so it's pretty much between that and the Sly collection since those are the only bundle's I havn't played any of the games included. Anyone know which collection has more value/length?

so during the network outage I picked up far cry 2 for the singleplayer and the map editor (havn't gotten to it yet). I was watching some videos online of custom maps that looked pretty cool and a good way to extend the online enjoyment. However, is anyone still playing this game online, or will I be in for a rather disappointing surprise when I get online for it?

So it just came to my attention how many games are bundled into new HD packages (prince of persia trilogy, sly collection, tomb raider collection, and splinter cell trilogy). I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on which package is the best in terms of value and visual quality.
