great info, thanks again guys for the quick responses
ok, sounds good guys, I'll get some new thermal paste, any suggestions, or is it all the same?
yea, its a zalman 9700 nt, i wouldn't say that it sucks, every review i read before i bought it was positive, but I need to figure out why these temps are so high, i feel like they should be down to the 30's and 40's, it is sitting nicely on the cpu, do you think the thermal paste could definately be the problem? Or am I looking at a CPU chip problem, I guess i wanna know if this is a quick fix or if my CPU is showing signs of burning out.
hey guys, I've got a q6600, it is not overclocked, and the speedstep is enabled to keep it at low speeds when idle, howerver CoreTemp is showing reading like htis.
Core 0 62 C 30% load
Core 1 57 C 0% load
Core 2 50 C 15% load
core 3 50 C 51% load
The temps to me dont match up, seems like it should be down in the 30's to 50's/ I am using an Asus p5ND (750i sli) and i have a Zalman Nvidia themed CNP something (forgot the name) but it's a massive fan with copper heatsynchs and is beyond overkill even when overclocking to 3.4 ghz
Running Windows 7 64 bit, the fan is running at like 2200 rpm's and it is a tiny bit noisy, but i still feel these temps are high and theat they did not run this high before. Could it be the thermal paste or heatsynch or something, This is the first PC i've built by myself so is there anything i need to know about thermal paste wearing out? or fans not working right? I've had it for 2 years now and it has held up well, I used to OC it to 3.6 Ghz but now i keep it nice and cool and slower.
Any help would be much appreciated, even any knowlege about good temps.
Oh, my case is the Antec 900, it has 3 smaller and 1 huge fan on top, (as well as the Zalman cooler, fsb fan and PSU fan) so 7 in total
andWait for Nvidia's new Fermi based GPU to come out, or you will kick yourself. It is going to blow everything out of the water, although the 5700 series is a good value, but nvidia will probably have their cards out around the middle of 2010
i agree wholeheartedly, the lack of "Co-op" explanatins on game cases infuriates me, it should say (1-4 players offline)(1-2 co-op offline) (1-4 co-op online) (1-32 online) or something like that maybe just an icon with a number to show us if it supports co-op offline and how many or co-op online and how many, when i got vegas it said 1-4 multiplayer, which is ambiguous and untrue, it only supports 2 players or 1 online
The best example i can give is with World of Warcraft, if you look at the sky while standing outside in shattrath i can basically see rings starting from the center and expanding out instead of a smooth gradient, is this because my resolution is so high that it can't blend it in? or is this WFP2408 not a true 8 bit like it claims? if anyone that has WOW can please recreate this test and tell me your thoughts or post a screenie i would love to see it, especially if you have a CRT or a true color lcd panel, i am curious as to if this is just inherent to LCD tech or if it inherent to the tech in the games.
Remember, look STRAIGHT UP in Shattrath city, you will notice a circle of bands expanding outwards.
Also, I'm wondering if this is simply a calibration issue, in which i would love to know of a great calibration tool for fixeing this problem as i've become OBSESSED with perfection for a 700$ monitor
