In Summer- Traditional Summer Games

Over the years there has always been at least one good game out there that we end up playing during our entire Summer break from finishing school or college. Even if you couldn't afford to go on holiday with friends or family you would end up playing something on your console or handheld, online multiplayer games are different from a different point of view if you play stuff like World of Warcraft or League of Legends. Most games I've played in the past during my summer during my time were all titles that were released back on the PlayStation 2 with games like Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy X or even God of War 1 and 2 but there was one game that pretty much took most of my summer back in 2006 and was one of those games that got it right.

Bought Dragon Quest: The Journey of the Cursed King just after the first day on launch in April 2006 and was the first Dragon Quest game to be released over in UK/Europe; This was the first big success for the series and also was the 8th game in the series for both Japan and North America which was released in 2004 and 2005. I didn't as much time playing through the game after I've first bought it but after my first year at college had finished for the summer, spent a ton of hours sinking into its story. It wasn't just the story I liked it was also the well-coloured visuals and art even the character designs were drawn by Akira Toriyama who is well known for his work on the Dragon Ball series. Travelling around the world and fighting countless enemies and bosses also made Dragon Quest one of those adventures you don't want to leave or end by the time you've completed the game or spent the entire summer trying to complete the game. I could really talk more about Dragon Quest if I wanted but I'd rather not spoil it for anyone who hasn't experienced this classic PS2 title.

As the years progress either you have a paid job or spending time with family and friends we still try and find the time to play games in our spare time, handhelds have made a good impact during people's summer either you've been aboard somewhere or meeting up with a few friends or plan on heading to a convention you can spend hours on that one game. I remember purchasing Project X Zone for the 3DS during last year the insane story-plot and basic gameplay kept up us on my toes and plus coming back to it back quite a lot it might not have been the best game I've played on a handheld but this did had a lot to offer from its sprite animation during cutscenes and gameplay. As I've already mentioned both games I still look back from my past summers experiences on going through countless adventures in another world in that one game that ends up being that good making us feel that were a part of that story.

I know that theres been a few games that have been released during the summer period and around the same time when quite a few good movies are released in Cinemas as well. But do you try and buy the latest game during the Summer or do you have a back-log of games that you want to play and beat by the time summer ends?
