I don't know about the system link thing. But the game you're looking for is Alan Wake, I think.

When you get the BSOD, look at the bottom of the screen, there shoudl be a series of numbers. wright down the number right after the STOP message. then google that number, and you should get some answers.

Maybe if it's really warm in your house, and it get's really cold outside very fast at night. I'm not sure though. I've cracked a couple coffee pots from washing the pot too soon after making coffee.
