@Caldrin The game got significantly better since the time we got on Early Access and we will release new patch with redesigned UI very soon, both look and usability will be better. Probably a few new issues with UI will arise but I believe we will be able to fix them soon.
I was avoiding writing about our game, Legends of Eisenwald here to discuss Greenlight and not our game, but just wanted to say that we got greenlit today!
@HIT3kNology There are tons of games on Greenlight that are pretty advanced both in terms of gameplay as well as graphics. I know, because I voted for every single item there :)
@Majkic666 @Sohereiam Some statistics for you: when a game is released on all platforms, Steam accounts for 70-80% of sales. GOG is usually next biggest, with 10-15%, and the rest is Desura, Gamers Gate and others. So yes, GOG and Desura should not be discounted but by getting to Steam alone could be decisive of the financial success of the game.
@colt_a Well, I am an indie developer and I am happy Greenlight exists. Process before Greenlight was much worse - fill out a submission form and wait for an answer. Greenlight is a bit more transparent, it gives a platform to promote your game. Yes, I wish more games including ours would be accepted but this is a huge improvement.
Well, I am on a sort of a quest to defend Greenlight :) This article here explains it in more details; http://www.flesheatingzipper.com/gaming/2013/05/legends-of-eisenwald-developer-says-steams-greenlight-service-is-great-explains-inner-workings/
Russian developers have sense. What's wrong with my post here? There is no shame in expressing an opinion, and there is no shame to show that experiences of people on Greenlight differ. Maybe putting a link to our game was a bit much, but I saw links in this thread below... It's a pity there is no "dislike" button here... If my post got too many dislikes, I would delete it. Write here, if you think I should. Let's say 5 votes against (short message with "-" would be enough) and no likes, and I will delete my posting... I still think there is value in discussion...
@ampiva I have to disagree. In the past the process for developers was even harder - you submit your game and then you might receive a "no" without any further explanations. The Greenlight while it gives no guarantee, at least it gives some feedback - if a game has flaws, players will surely tell us what's wrong with it. It's way better than just receive a rejection with no reason why.
