If anyone remembers Tropico and Tropico: Paradise Island (nevermind Tropico 2), are there any games in development that is taking this concept and making a more advanced game in 3D?

I still play this game despite its age but would love a new updated game.

PopTop was one of the developers but I don't know if they're in business anymore or who bought them out (Take2 Interactive, I think).

At it's heart, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is a business strategy game. you have to create and run a successful theme park. It's not truly about building roller coasters -- that's just a side amusement. It's a fun sim.

I bought this game thinking it would be fun. But it's so tedious and boring. There might be a reason why no one's playing it online. It's fairly difficult to play, I thought. I like advanced, realistic games where you don't have weapons that can blow up half the map with a single shot, but there's something that's not right about this gameplay. It's missing something fundamental.

Everyone probably correctly presumed you're wanting to play shooter games. But in case you weren't, try Civ IV orRoller Coaster Tycoon 3 (silly but addictive). Civ IV is going to be coming out with a huge upgrade soon, too.

I also might add Tropico, which is another "tycoon" like game where you run a Caribbean island(a Castro clone). It's an older game with one of the isometric maps that are so outdated now because it's not full 3D but can stilleasily be found in bargain bins. I have lots of new, fresh games but if I put this one in the computer I get as much enjoyment out of it as when I first bought it.

And, although I haven't played it, lots of people have been pleasantly surprised by the Anniversary edition of Tomb Raider.

I can't remember the last time I bought an album of any sort. But if I ever come across the GTA: Vice City soundtrack I will purchase it.

A couple of years ago I read that the Star Trek game franchise was leased to a new developer to breathe new life into it. This was great news at the time because the franchise was stale and there wasn't many games (if any) that really put you in the captain's chair.

From a press release on StarTrek.com (http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/gaming/news/article/15318.html)

Following a brief gap in Star Trek video games being released, newly assigned gaming licensee Bethesda Softworks recently announced two new titles scheduled to hit the shelves in September of this year: "Star Trek: Legacy" for Xbox 360 and "Star Trek: Tactical Assault" for Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. (For complete press release, see below.)

These new titles will no doubt be a welcome return to Star Trek gaming...

Star Trek: Legacy was a complete disappointment because this developer was supposed to bring something new to the games but it was the same exact crap of old. I read that an MMO, "Star Trek: Online" is being developed but I'm not hearing much hype about it. Interestingly, Bethesda Softworks is not developing it.

See press release from 2004: http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/gaming/online/article/6661.html

Any news?

Tropico/Tropico Paradise Island is a game I always go back to and play for hours no matter how old it is.

Remember that Spore was never actually intended to be released as a playable game. It was created to test new technologies and Wright and company were influenced to make this into a new game. When I first read about it, I didn't really think the idea was so great but everyone talked about how revolutionary the game engine was. But in the end, the gameplay is what is important. It seems like the delay is to improve the gameplay. They may as well stop where they are and use the technology for an entirely new game they create instead of trying to make this game work.

In reality, they should have been working on SimCity 5.
