if you plan to keep it around for a while, AMD would be better as intel switches platforms every two years. Still, that is shaping up to be a decent machine. much better than the things you get from dell and that. go for a P2 rather than the original phenom. Its better in every respect
5. Random movie with a lot of gunfights and action
All movies that can be made into games need a lot of action scenes. Plot doesn't need to be great and neither does it have to be a good movie. Games about a businessman trying to sell medical machines would sell about as well as the medical machines themselves.
Unless you're planning to upgrade your PC to something around the level of a 9800GT, consoles don't look too dissimilar. Besides, after christmas=best time to shop
The worst thing about this gen is that developers are giving up trying to tell a proper story and develope decent gameplay, instead, relying on eye candy and adding the amount of sex scenes in each game
