[QUOTE="Rattlesnake_8"]A lot of people have been finishing the game in one day, never before have i seen people finish a game fast and still recommend it and say how awesome it is. dvader654
it is not a short game. Took me a good 8-10 hours on single player.

Yeah, the single player took me about 10 hours and I'm about 7 hours into the co-op (which is probably near the end). So it's not a short game, I just couldn't put it down over the past few days.

HOLY... What a game!!!! Valve you magnificent bastards!!!! This game takes a giant dump all over the first game. One of the finest games I have played this gen and I still have the co-op part to do. I only wish that they pushed the puzzles even further though I guess that is what co-op is for. I am very very sad that there are no challenges when you beat the game, that was the best part of the original game.dvader654

I just played the co-op with my brother for about 6 or 7 hours and let me tell you, they seriously push the puzzles even further. My brother and I were really struggling on a lot of the puzzles, but it's some of the most rewarding gameplay I've ever experienced. Gameplay wise I think I might be more impressed with the co-op, though I admit it can get frustrating at times. Overall this game has kind of blown me away (and this is coming from someone who thought the original was kind of overrated).

Man, the puzzles in chapter 3 were great! Finally some new mechanics and they just feel brilliant. I dont know whether to admire Valve for coming up with these puzzles or myVself for solving them so fast.

One thing I am still not digging is how the story is stagnant through out all this. I am in chapter 4 and i feel like nothing's happened. The other robot came in and said, ok five more chambers and i was like FIVE more??? And quit playing for the day. Galdys is hilarious at times but its been the same thing over and over again for the past couple of hours, and frankly a bit repititive. I suppose this is what happens when you try to make it a full length 10 hour game, but see i felt Portal 1's length was perfect.

It's also kinda taxing to do one puzzle after another without any real break in b/w. Something like Uncharted breaks up its core gameplay, shooting segments, with platforming or story cutscenes, Portal 2 is just one puzzle room after another.

I can certainly understand that, but for some reason I still found it really addictive and couldn't put it down even though I felt like doing that at times (my brain must have been begging for a break at times.:P). As for the overall story, I always felt Portal was about the great writing and clever puzzles more so than anything else. So even though the overarching story drags at times, that didn't really bother me. When things got interesting it just felt like a bonus.

The only real fighting game I've played in the last four years or so was Street Fighter IV and I was awful at it...I repeat, awful. I really tried to practice but I just couldn't get the hang of it. Despite that I find myself very interested in Mortal Kombat. Does it seem like a more casual friendly fighting game? The reviews point towards that from what I've read, just wanted to hear some other opinions from users here on GS.

Portal 2 got real awesome really quick. This is the most well written game I have ever played, I am laughing more during this game than I have for any movie in a long time. I went through a stretch of almost no real puzzles for like 30 minutes but it was story heavy and I enjoyed that part the most.dvader654

I feel the same way; even when there's downtime between puzzles I'm entertained because of the writing.

Finished the game a little while ago. Took me about 10 hours to beat, which seems like a reasonable length. I like how complex the later puzzles were when you had to juggle the various gels, those vortex things, and other stuff all in one big puzzle. Overall I thought it was a really big improvement on the original.

Played it for about 5 or 6 hours today. Gets off to a slow start but that's not surprising considering the first game was the same way (and I guess they still have to slowly introduce concepts in case there are new players). But in the original I only found the last few puzzles or so really challenging, whereas in Portal 2 I've already encountered some pretty tricky ones and I don't think I'm at the end of the game yet. Also got to the part where the new gel is introduced, adds another element to the gameplay which is certainly welcome. Can't wait to see how much crazier the puzzles get as I progress.

The writing is still top notch, and I love the new characters (Wheatley and Cave Johnson). Stephen Merchant is especially awesome as Wheatley; great voice-over work all around though.

Did anyone just jump into the co-op first? That seems like it could get pretty crazy even if you were playing with someone you know.:P Very interested to try it out after I beat the single-player.

  2. There Is Love In You - Four Tet
  3. Teen Dream - Beach House
  4. Contra - Vampire Weekend
  5. Astro Coast - Surfer Blood

I'm downloading the demo right now. I'm not as interested in online multiplayer as I used to be but I got tired of Modern Warfare 2 shortly after it was released, so I need something new to keep me interested in terms of online play. I remember playing the first Bad Company and liking it, but there was something about the online that seemed a little off to me; I just couldn't really get into it (maybe I needed more time with it though, I was only borrowing it from a friend for a little while). For those who have played the demo, would you say it's an improvement?
