Yes, f2p is a bit of a misnomer. I guess the question which begs to be asked is how would you rather support game developers of the titles you love - pay up front or pay in small increments for what you want in game. There are clearly arguments for both - f2p lowers the financial barrier to titles; however the style offers items for sale which may take away from the gaming experience. On the other hand, paying up-front creates a financial barrier; however, it may allow for "better" game design.
