I have four origunal controllers and have had no problems with them and I have had my 60GB from when they where first reliesed!
I never read the manual either, pretty much just jump into the game and usually pick it up quite quickly!If its a racing game I usually go onto quick race to see how it plays!
I would mate because it is part of the platnum range and also a very good game! Plus you would be better off playing resistance 1 in order to know the beginning of the story before you play resistance 2!
