Hey man I know exactly what you are talking about. I bought Oblivion and hated it. About a year went by, and everyone including a buddy just praised it. So I thought,"I guess I missed something?". So I bought it again ( I sell all my games). Well it still sucked.
But when the first Fallout for 360 came out I could not resist the hype and everything I read about it. I bought it. I instantly loved it. It is one incredible game. I beat it and got rid of it to soon because it is one that you can go back to. You can easily put 100hr in it.
I think I hate oblivion because I was playing WOW at the time. WOW has ruined every RPG I have played since except Fallout.
If you like post apocalyptic anything you will like. Actually is a lot like the movie Road Warrior. But I love that movie. Hope this helped.
For me it has always been the music. This was my first intro to the GTA series. I have played and finished all of the games since then. When I look back at the series Vice City has always been my favorite too and when I ask myself why the music comes to mind. Just off the top of my head Duran Duran had a song in there, I thing GNR may have been in there too. Since Vice City the game play, overall, has been identical so it has to be the bad ass soundtrack for the game. Again if memory servers me right then I saw the sound track to vice city in a cd store.
