Well, I for one loved this episode.
My wife commented that it reminded her of early SG-1 episodes when they weren't talking about an overall story arc.
I am really enjoying Atlantis this year. Tabula Rasa is one of Atlantis' best.

First, I don't think SciFi hates Stargate, and I have seen tons of ads for it. However, I do think that the execs at SciFi feel they no longer need the franchise. Stargate helped make the SciFi Channel more popular. (Along with other shows like Farscape, which was their highest rated program at the time the cancelled it, and Battlestar Galactica which is being cancelled even though it helped bring many viewers to the entire network.)

I think they only let SG-1 get as far as it did so they could claim the title of longest-running (American) science fiction show. SciFi has had higher quality program recently, and their future programming really seems to be heading in the right direction.

That said, I hope they don't overstep their bounds. I don't completely trust their decision making. We ARE after all talking about the network that cancelled Farscape to promote Tremors: The Series (which lasted about a dozen episodes or so).

Was SG-1 ready to be cancelled? I don't think so. I think there were plenty of stories to tell, but I also think it has had a good run. Here are some things SciFi Channel can do to gain my trust:

1 - Keep Stargate Atlantis around for several more seasons.
2 - Keep Eureka for a few more seasons.
3 - Keep The Dresden Files for a few more seasons.
4 - Pick up Stargate Universe.

And that's just for starters really. SciFi has some good things going for it, they just need to be smart about their decisions.
