I started playing games on consoles back in the day when PC gaming wasn't much of a thing and later on started gaming on both PC and consoles. During my college (2002) I entirely played on a PC and during those days building a great PC, upgrading it was so much fun. Just to play games with friends(counter strike), we pooled money and connected freaking whole dormitory with routers and cables. Infact when I started working first thing I did was build a freaking gaming PC. But that was then!
Now though I have a decent laptop with good graphics card and power, I don't feel like playing much games on a PC and even building a new one. Mobas, CSGO etc run very well on my laptop and thats enough for me. I know PCs have far better horsepower and can churn out better performance but I dont feel any kind of strong attraction. When I come back from work, I better sit on couch in front of a big ass TV and play game on console rather than a PC.
I know people will say that you can connect your PC to TV, have a controller etc, I know that and I have been there and done that infact I played Dark souls 2 on PC with a controller. But that's not the point. I personally feel that consoles are much easier, straightforward and dedicated platform for gaming. They have easier and better social connectivity because these days kids have all their friends on networks because normally they start gaming on consoles and they stick to it. Only thing that I would never play on a console is a competitive shooter (I still play CS:GO competitive from time to time) but that's about it.
One more factor is that when I am playing on console, I sit in living room and able to spend time with my family rather than laser focused into a screen on a PC sitting on a chair. We can watch Netflix, Youtube and other stuff together on the TV. It not only serves as a gaming platform but also an overall entertainment experience.
So in nutshell -
Consoles are easier, COMPACT, dedicated and straightforward platform for gaming. PCs could be better and will always be but that doesn't mean the overall experience (not limited to gaming) is superior. Consoles not only provide decent gaming experience but also a great entertainment experience where families can spend time together. With the availability of apps on TVs and consoles, its getter better and better.
