Man it's awesome to be playing these old school gems again!
The early 90s was truely an amazing time for games. There were so many great RPGs, platformers, shumps, and beat-em-ups on the Super Nintendo, NES and Genesis during that time. When I was a kid I had no clue that I was playing some of the games that would later be considered some of the greatest titles ever made.
Recently I went on a hunt to find some of the games I planned on starting my collection with. I went around to almost every pawn shop and retro game store in my city that had SNES games. It's too bad they weren't the ones I was looking for. Everywhere I looked there were no Donkey Kongs, Yoshi's Islands, or Final Fantasies. By that point I had given up the search so I ended up picking up Batman Returns at a pawn shop for cheap just to have something to play...
...So I get home pop Batman Returns into my SNES and the game worked! There was only one problem, every button I tried pressing wouldn't start up the game. It turns out the one controller I had was busted too so all I could do was keep watching the opening cinematics of the game. At that point I'd had enough, so I went on ebay and ordered a SNES replica controller for about 8 bucks with shipping.
With my SNES finally up and running, I've ended up accumulated a decent collection in the weeks since my last blog.
Here's the games I've got for far:
I'm already 39% in DKC2 and about level 12 in Sercret Of Evermore. UN Squadron just arrived in the mail today so I gotta get back to playing it!
