My 2+year old launch model Xbox 360 Core showed the RROD yesterday. It's amazing how sudden and random it is. It has worked PERFECTLY since new and then yesterday, I switched it on - no picture and the 3-light Red Ring blinking away!

Microsoft is repairing the console under the 3 year warranty. Collected by UPS today... so far so good.

At least I can be thankful my console didn't pack in after 3 years of age. I might even get a considerably newer model. I'm hoping for a Falcon....

12 days later... I received my original console back, repaired for free. No replacement Falcon model unfortunately, so I am a little disappointed. Now I have my fingers crossed, hoping that my November 2005 manufactured model soldiers on!

I don't think so. Annoyingly. This sort of deal would make our PS3's value closer to that of the price in the US.
