No. Despite what Microsoft thinks, only gamers buy Xbox consoles. Everyone else is buying smart TVs, Chromecast, and Roku players.

lol@only gamers buy xbox consoles. I thought the cows said the xbone wasn't for gamers. if only gamers bought consoles the wii wouldn't have sold over 100 million units. Yeah you can buy a smart TV that does what the xbone does...for $2000. Chromecast doesn't come with anything special just streams from your computer and while I love my Roku box, it doesn't do what the xbone can. So the xbone does have a nice spot carved out for itself. It's just a matter of marketing it correctly. Since it is an all in one device that does many things they should market it differently to the different demographics it targets. People will buy it if they know what it does. I mean people are buying it now. It is a neat device when it's all said and done. I know people who bought one just because they liked the new tech and have no interest in gaming on it seriously. I also know people who bought it and are hardcore gamers. Seems to be just as Microsoft envisioned the product.

There are different types of gamers. Smart TVs are NOT all $2000. I just bought a 32'' 1080p smart TV for $299. Anyone can make the argument from personal experience, but gamers buy Xbox. Sorry. That's just the way it is.

A smart TV that can do what they xbone does. You can't use voice commands on that $300 samsung. Can't skype chat either. Or use motion controls. Lol in all serious that $300 "smart" TV of yours isn't that smart compared to what is available today. It's 2013, when I say smart TV I mean the full blown 60 inch, web cam, motion controlled, voice controlled TVs that LG makes. You know, the ones that can do what the xbone does.

No one cares about talking to their TV. That's just nonsense. That reminds me of the success of the clapper. Clap on! clap off! The clapper!

not true, my voice commands of the xbox is an awesome feature. id only be upset if I lost that now, its very well down and its only getting better. so many more voice commands coming which is great.

xbox one is the smartest tv

I see where you are going with this. You're an Xbox fan who wants to make the case that Xbox is the best all-in-one solution for everyone, and will sooner rather than later dominate the living room of gamers and non-gamers alike, as Microsoft hopes. I get it, man, but it just isn't going to happen, especially when non-gamers can just buy a TV or a $49 Roku box that does the same thing. The Xbox brand is a fine brand, although it has never actually made Microsoft one dime, but it is a gaming brand and it will be for as long as Microsoft decides to lose money on it. I suspect this is the last Xbox we will see.

one more console. 4k gaming is the way to go, 2020 is going to have the tech world on pressure to deliver greatness. Its a big year for technology in 2020. I predict next console is xbox 2020. anyway, xbox one brand has a ton of selling points, is it about gamers? yes, is it about women? its trying to be, is it about dads and moms? yes, its about the brand, xbox live, and this I believe will be another added value in the ecosystem of the worlds smartest TV xbox one.

People get HBO just to watch TrueBlood.

I think coupled with the whole package, it could drive sales.

I wonder though, if they will allow people to just get Xbox Live w/o a console and watch it on a PC.

Just to watch? HBO harbours a few high-quality shows. I understand what you are trying to get at, but it isn't provable... Unless you wish to do so.

TV IS TV. again my wife watches this and gets into a show, and it has interactive elements to it which it will, you have no idea how marketable that could be. its a differentiator if you ask me
