During this last month or so I have been playing extensively on my PS3. Mostly due to the reason that my 360 RRoD'ed (Second time btw yay me). Anyway during this time I have started to notice a lot of quality differences between the 360 and the PS3, such as why I now see that those 50 dollars (well its more like 100 dollars in my Country but still) I pay for live every year is worth every got damn cent. But onwards with the point of this well slowly I started to notice some differences when I switched over to my PS3, things that I had grown accustomed to expect on my 360 were nowhere to be found on the PS3.
Now these things can aviate from very small and unimportant things like that the 360 remembers where you are in a movie/video file that you're playing from an external hard drive and everywhere else for that matter whereas the PS3 only seem to keep a record of where you are in a video on video files only stored on the PS3 itself. Again this doesn't matter really, it's just me nitpicking.
But the more important things I noticed to me that is was how you really can't play music over any games from the XMB menu in the PS3 but on the 360 I have had the availability to do this since the moment I got it 2 years ago. Again not an important thing to everybody but it is if enjoy to listen to your music over a video game when you play games like say me and like to have the possibility to do so right from the get go.
Anyway what I like to talk more about is how the chat system on the ps3 is far inferior to that of the 360, where you only can chat with people that are in the same game as you or none of you are in a game at all. On the 360 however you and the person you chat with can be in two separate games for that matter. Something that would be more than welcome seeing as most of my friends has a Ps3 and not a 360 and that way I could talk with them and play separate games at the same time. On the PS3 there is also not a Party chat something which just have been added recently to the 360 anyway so I'm not going to drag down on that.
Yes there was something else, ah now I remember the possibility to use the XMB bar to invite your friends to a game. Something that is nonexistent on the PS3. Not that its important seeing as you probably send some text messages to people you want to play with and arrange everything in game anyway. But it can be time saving when you just want to skip the formalities and just play games a invite to game button would be nice.
No the PS3 also have some things I prefer over the 360 and that is how easy it is to copy files from an external hard drive over to the PS3. I love that feature so practical. But really when that's the ONLY thing you have done better than your competitor when it comes to online gaming then you're kind of not doing your job right. I could also go on and **** about how I feel the PS Store is harder to navigate but that is just what I think, and everybody have a different taste when it comes to stuff like that so. Basically what I'm saying with all this ranting, get your s*** together Sony, had all these features mentioned above been added to the PS3 and PS Network it would be so much better. In other words copy the s*** out of how Xbox have built their Xbox Live service and do it better. And I might prefer PS Network over it one day (probably not but hey it's a possibility). Also Sony gets props for most slickest interface whereas the 360 one is a bit more messy in my opinion but after the NXE I would say they are about the same, again it comes down to what you like.
