[QUOTE="Cirkelinespark"]Yeah it is all about choices and setups, either choose this or that, which does makes it feel limited to some extent and not very flexible.dzimm
It's those limitations forcing tough decisions that I think are one of the best parts of the game.

100% agree. The constant triage is what makes this game so intense and engaging. "Do I save this soldier, or that soldier? Do I research the new weapon, or the new aircraft? Do I build a lab, or a workshop?" Particularly in the beginning of the campaign, when the odds are stacked so heavily against you, is when this game is at it's best, in my opinion.

As for the dumbing down, I never played an XCOM game before this, so I wouldn't know. But I do know that this game is one of the best strategy games I've ever played on a console.

1,If you play this game with the CD it will eventually lock up or freeze on you and all that you did in a mission is lost.Youy have to shut your Xbox off and restart the game again.Hopefully you were smart enough to manually have saved the game before you started the mission. But all missions are long and its a real pain to do it all over again

2. When youy return to national HQ after a mission all you soldiers who were injured usally have to recover for 7 to 12 days. This I hate the most.Because you may have played several missions and you have a lot of updated stuff. So what do they give you? Raw recruits in there place til they recover

3. Finding the enemy aliens-- When you start off the mission there is no indicator where to send your squad to hunt out aliens or even bombs. So you waste valuable time trying to find them. And that gives the enemy aliens ample time to flank you.

4. This game lacks faster upgrades for your quad, like better armour, laser rifles and whatever. You get promoted and all you get is a gass grenade.Big deal

5.The Xbox360 game included a weapons download pack as a bonus. Where are the weapons? The aliens must have stole them

1: This is not specific to the game, take it up with microsoft and their console.

2: Get the upgrade that halves your soldiers' recovery rate from the officer training school. Also, be careful with the fragile little meatbags; it sounds like you're being too wreckless.

3: The maps are generally pretty small, and the frequency with which it repeats map skins means you'll quickly know where everything is and the general topography. Also, if you're getting flanked (and you're unable to handle it) it means you're advancing too quickly. I realise in a bomb mission time is of the essence, but you do have a minimap on those missions that show you where the delayers are.

4: This game does not tell you how to get to the upgrades. If it took you too long, it means YOU took too long, not the game. It's actually pretty easy to upgrade your main squad quickly if you know what research to do. Also, smoke grenades are amazing and have saved my squad from wipe several times. Do not under estimate them. But if your underlying complaint is that you don't like the abilities you unlock, then the problem isn't the game.

5: The wording of the pre-order DLC is misleading. The entire contents are purely cosmetic customization pieces.

Happy hunting, commander.

I'd suggest turning off ironman until you're more confident in your abilities. This game is hard as balls. Thus, you must be hard as balls too. With ironman off, you can reload saves and try different approaches when an encounter goes belly up.

I have missed 4 50% chances making the % un true. Not sure but dice roll seems more likely.

DaDizzel

You're looking at it incorrectly. Just because you have a one-in-two chance of hitting does not mean you will hit by the second shot. Each shot has a 50% chance. You could, theoretically miss over and over and over ad infinitum. Also, in the case of this game, anti save scumming takes place. Anti save scumming is the game auto-saving your results on a shot roll, so that even if you reload the game and take the shot again, the results will not change from the previous roll. There are ways to work around this, but that's another topic.

Edited for clarity.

Well, my sniper had a no kidding 100% chance to hit. He fired and he missed. I am not making that up. A 100% chance and he frikkin' misses? Demsul

I'm willing to bet you are making that up. I've clocked over a hundred hours in this game, beaten it on impossible, and not once seen 100% miss. That, or you misread the percentage.

I beat impossible about 20 minutes ago. NOT on ironman (because I don't see how its possible when you have the 1/100 chance of a sectopod spawning on your squad - yes, that happened to me). I can tell you that the first mission is the hardest. It does get easier as you get upgrades and rank up. Make sure you rank up a sniper as fast as possible (with squadsight and double tap). If you can, rank up two of them. But if you are determined to beat impossible, know this: Its not impossible. Its hard as ****. Harder than dark souls on newgame+++. But save often and save in multiple slots. My gamertag is BAM21 if anyone wants to look me up to confirm the achievement for impossible.
