I think their problem is that they have a few executives who keep putting them under ridiculous deadlines, and still others that want to design the games themselves with over the top ideas that take more time to implement than allowed.
I've been getting the same thing lately.. it didn't used to give me that warning until it was down to one bar. It's nothing to worry about. You still have a lot of time to play before you have to change the batteries. I use the rechargable pack /play n' charge combo.. .I recommend you invest in it. It's definitely worth it. You save a ton on batteries in the long run, and you don't have to reset the system to designate a new player one controller. (If you want to change to another controller with a full battery)
I don't think it's a rip off per se. I agree it sucks for those of us that already own a 360, but I've gotten plenty of enjoyment out of my system these last 6 months I've had it; and I don't really *need* the big Hard Drive, but I do want the HDMI, so I think I might use my premium as a trade in towards the Elite at some point. For now though, I'm not worried about it. For those that don't own one (but want one), and can throw down for a premium with no problem, I'd say hold off for the elite. It's an extra 80 bucks you get a MUCH larger hard drive, the revamed cooling system, and HDMI capabilities. May as well, especially if you already have a HD TV that supports the higher resolutions.

LMAO In the same vein of BC - has anyone had trouble playing games that ARE on the list? Right now I'm playing through KotOR I, and alot of the dialogue stutters, and the movies skip quite a bit. I don't think it's my disc, there's no scratches or blemishes on it at all.
