It's easy to say this from a consumer viewpoint, but that would be committing economic suicide for MS and consumers.
If the illumiroom costs thousands of dollars, and you suggest adding the projector, how much are you proposing the whole bundle would cost?
No matter your answer, the proper price tag would have to be well over a thousand dollars. Even if it is a peripheral added later on, for them to drastically decrease the price would mean they are willing to take a GIGANTIC and HISTORIC loss and would leave no resources for support.
@Xristophoros @Tw33Kcd1rw If you are mainly referring to the media achievements, they do seem like a bit of a stretch. But everything does revolve around money; unfortunately, when most people make mundane comments, they forget this, which is why I largely agree with your last sentence. And this is why Sony also adapted trophies. They recognized the success Xbox had with achievements and followed suit.
I think it's cheesey to brag about achievements, but if they are there, a lot of gamers will try to unlock them. And if it is something that is hard to get, they're going to feel accomplished and probably brag about it.
@de-astroturfer @Tw33Kcd1rw @Xristophoros Not for you, but it is for many other people out there. And there are also just as many who don't brag about that little stuff. The point is, just because one tiny thing of this console is something you don't agree with doesn't mean the whole world should conform to your tiny opinion.
@Xristophoros Then you are in the minority because most people, it doesn't matter if it's in sports, education, or in this case gaming, like to brag about their stuff every now and then. Bragging is just a normal part of life. Go play the older consoles if you aren't satisfied.
@rey2 Although that would be cool, there's a lesser chance of that happening than when MS backtracked on their policies.
I never understood the stigma of playing backwards-compatible games. I never play them, and it would probably be a technological nightmare. But more importantly for Sony and MS, it would NOT generate as much profit because both companies want to still support the PS3 and Xbox 360 a little while longer.
