Gaming Update from the Abyss

by on

Oh I have to do another gaming update. So far

Games Beat in 2012

  1. Sonic Generations (JAN)
  2. Tales of the Abyss 3D (3DS) - 73hrs, normal, followed a guide to the dot

Next will be either SSX, Naruto Shippuden Storm Generations or Graces F, FFXIII-2 is sitting on the backlog, Armored Core V will most likely join it. Playing of Graces F may be delayed if there is no english guide available online day 1...

January Report: Im still alive

by on

Woot, finally. I will make efforts to be here more. Im confused why the site is split with Fuse and this but I will make efforts to blog more. I spend so much time talking about games on tumblr that I get burnt out putting content in more than one place.

Anyway, I managed to finish one game this year. Sonic Generations. So right now.

List of Games Beat in 2012

  1. Sonic Generations (PS3) - 8 hours or so?

Overall it was a decent game. I liked Unleashed a whole lot more, but this was still decent. I felt the game was plagued with useless minigames and odd difficulty with weird level selection. I will never forget the choice of the Colors level, really?! And the level where were running on water (really, we can fall in the water). Not to mention the odd reason why on the final boss were constantly losing rings, I never understood it.

Anyway what are you playing? Next on my list if FFXIII-2 and the Guide (had preordered it but not enough money so I never went to gamestop so hopefully it doesnt sell before Feb 15 or so, and Tales of the Abyss 3DS) --> SSX, Graces F, and the ultimate Naruto Shippuden Narutimate Storm Generations!

My Top 10 Games of 2011

by on

Hi guys, alrighty for this December blog, I shall do my top 10 games post.

1.inFamous 2(PS3)
2.Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception(PS3)
3.Dynasty Warriors Gundam3(PS360)
4.Bleach Soul Resurreccion(PS3)
5.Motorstorm Apocalypse(PS3)
6.L.A. Noire(PS360)
7.Catherine(PS360)
8.Disgaea 4: Absence of Justice(PS3)
9.Assassin's Creed: Revelations(PS360)
10.Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel(PS3)

Games that I would have included:
-Deus Ex Human Revolution: Excellent soundtrack, though ended up getting stuck in the very first room.
-Skyrim: When it opened up it felt so overwhelming, I didnt even know where I wanted to start.
-Dragon Age II: I havent had time to even plow through Dragon Age Origins + Awakening + Other DLC
-Mass Effect 2 - Well it was just a port, but an amazing 70 hours I spent in it, precious Miranda and FemShep.
-Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D: It needed modern mechanics. It was fun but lacking in numerous areas.
-Sonic Generations: It wasnt as fun as Sonic Unleashed.

For infamous 2 I thought it was a huge step up from the first one and with less annoying missions. The character cast and graphics were great and the music completely unforgettable. I enjoyed the environment.

For Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3, I enjoyed the use of Gundams with the gameplay. It really made the game fun to play and kept it interesting by using an animu franchise. As a bonus it even had Gundam 00 characters and great graphics which made it sheer fun to play. I was hooked upwards of 60 hours.

For Bleach Soul Resurrecion, It had Bleach characters like Ichigo, Grimmjow, and Ulquiorra, what more does a game need than a popular deep and immersive animu franchise to appeal to me? Gameplay and graphics? Well it excelled on that front and was, like DWG3, easy to embrace thanks to a familiar franchise. Gameplay kept from feeling dull due to the level up system in place.

And you?

Currently playing: Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights (3DS)

Last Game Finished: Assassin's Creed Revelations

Mid November Update

by on

Alrighty so Im still around, you may have seen me check out some of your blogs and comment but otherwise Im in less of a role but am for all purposes back in action. I had an issue with my PC that inhibited me from being active (ie, ram was faulty and there is still some minor hardware fault (nudge the laptop and it locks up), but I dont get blue screens of page fault errors anymore due to a bad piece of ram, computer is slow as molasses without it (down from 4GB to 2GB, but I can still watch my anime and stream anime, so no major loss).

Anyway in the mean time Ive beat more games, can you spot the new ones?

  1. Mass Effect (PC) - JAN
  2. Mass Effect 2 (PS3) - FEB
  3. Resonance of Fate (PS3) - MAR
  4. Sonic Colors (Wii) - APR
  5. LA Noire (PS3) - May

Still Around

by on

Hey Guys

Im actually still around, Ive mainly just been on the Fairy Tail union to post about anime. Anime taking over my life so Ive been watching so much. Ill probably write a few posts about them coming up.

I havent actually beat a game in a while since Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten. Thought hat was the last game I bought until...tomorrow, Sonic Generations and Uncharted 3, and next week Skyrim Collectors Edition, and then Assassin's Creed Revelations (which Im finally playing Brotherhood right now).

Anyway, hope to see you all around.

Through the Shinigami and the Heavy Rain

by on

Well Im back online right before school starts up. You will not believe how busy the past few weeks have been for me. Well not really, you know how you get in those mood to just boot up and watch some anime, well I was in it.

  1. Madoka Magica - I finally gave it a try and although it felt flat most of the time, episodes 3 and 10 were awesome. I actually cant stop thinking of them as they were just that good. It was an emotional rollercoaster of an anime that left me in tears in some moments. My favorite will forever be Mami Tomoe and I have to give praise to Goduka...
  2. Dragon Ball Z - You wont believe it but I did finally start watching this anime recently. Im only up to episode 5, but wow, it is pretty addicting in bursts. Raditz is so cool. But,Goku is so weak, only 330 and Piccolo 320, but Raditz 1200, and Gohan 1470 and higher?!?! That scanner has to be broken! Goku is supposed to be Earth's strongest fighter not the weakest main character in all shonen. Regardless, I had to stop the anime after that fight concluding because Raditz and Goku, you know...
  3. FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood: Yep, I did manage to finish it and it was so worth it. I enjoyed the ending even if I dont think it was beneficial to multiple characters. I wont spoil it but, wow!

In terms of games I did finish the story mode to Bleach Soul Resurreccion which has been reviewed for you by me. I also finished Heavy Rain (with PS Move) which was pretty interesting and fun. I enjoyed it greatly even if I had to do huge wide swings. I enjoyed the story and the SHOCKING revelation of who the Origami Killer was. Ack! That brings me to 13 games finished this year. Im moving on to SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked (3DS) this week as well as Deus Ex Human Revolution.

  1. Mass Effect (PC) - JAN
  2. Mass Effect 2 (PS3) - FEB
  3. Resonance of Fate (PS3) - MAR
  4. Sonic Colors (Wii) - APR
  5. LA Noire (PS3) - May
  6. Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel (PS3) - JUN
  7. inFAMOUS (PS3) - JUN
  8. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS) - JUN
  9. Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 (PS3) - JUL

Of Nightmare Gundam Superhuman Shinigami

by on

Well July has been a month of progress. I managed to finish Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 story mode and majority of other missions (essentially over 85,000 mobile suits destroyed in 54 hours of gameplay). Overall it was a fun, fast paced, and flashy game. The only hinderances for the game is the repetition for many of the trophies leading to some need to repititiously replay levels to enhance friendship relations for other characters to unlock the path to the ending as well as to unlock all of the other missions beyond the story. I may revisit it someday.

I finished inFAMOUS2 as well (14 hours - good ending - hard) which proved to be a delight. It was actually the first game Ive ever completed on hard mode and surprisingly quite fun. There were a few aggravating moments but through practice and generous checkpoints I managed. The ending was not as mindblowing as the first in terms of shock value however the action was still epic. I hope we get an inFAMOUS3somehow.

Finally, today I finished Catherineand received the TRUE LOVERending (14 hours, Easy). Katherine was my favorite in it. The game was at times challenging but through perseverence and determination I was able to overcome the puzzles without a guide. The only negative to the game is just the massive number of endings (would you really want to keep replaying it) and the lenghty levels just to reach the final boss. The story also felt like a mess and makes me wonder why Atlus is obsessed with the occult. Still the game is innovative and pretty fun.

And thus, that brings me to 11 games completed thus far in 2011.

  1. Mass Effect (PC) - JAN
  2. Mass Effect 2 (PS3) - FEB
  3. Resonance of Fate (PS3) - MAR
  4. Sonic Colors (Wii) - APR
  5. LA Noire (PS3) - May
  6. Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel (PS3) - JUN
  7. inFAMOUS (PS3) - JUN
  8. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS) - JUN
  9. Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 (PS3) - JUL
  10. inFAMOUS2 (PS3) - JUL
  11. Catherine (PS3) - JUL

8th Game Done: On OoT 3D

by on

Yeah so yesterday, after 37 hours, I finished my 8th game of the year, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D. It was a nice game that could have used modern mechanics to make it fresh and new. The story was intesting and had its epic moments with an ending that left me wanting more. It was a fantasy story, so you know, they always have anticlimatic nondefinitive open ended endings. I want to know what happens to Link, Zelda, and Ganon! Check out my full review.

The modern mechanics it could have used could have been:

  • Giving items and health during boss fights
  • Save points before the boss fight
  • Weaker bosses and enemies
  • Magic restores overtime, so why cant health, add that
  • Faster travel in Hyrule Field: its annoying to walk across it
  • More item storage: 30 arrows and 20 bombs just doesnt cut it
  • Din's Fire upgradeable: its not possible to spam fire attacks
  • Ability to "skip" difficult sections, like LA Noire….

Anyway, so Im most likely going to play inFamous 2 this week to finish that up before Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 (PS3) arrives. I cant wait, I aim to get that Platinum trophy in that. Ive also been playing Motorstorm Apocalypse on the side, fun to play before going to work in the morning.

  1. Mass Effect (PC) - JAN
  2. Mass Effect 2 (PS3) - FEB
  3. Resonance of Fate (PS3) - MAR
  4. Sonic Colors (Wii) - APR
  5. LA Noire (PS3) - May
  6. Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel (PS3) - JUN
  7. inFAMOUS (PS3) - JUN
  8. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS) - JUN

On Sonic Generations

by on

I tried the demo for the PS3. It was pretty fun booting it up and playing it. There were so many nice little details you know? It was Green Chills Zone as classic Sonic and the graphics (could use work) but its getting there. The details to the water falls, the backgrounds, the bridge, and even just the enemy design looked nice. Spin dashing I guess looked great with the blue sparks when just holding in place. Soundwise was great too with the waterfall having sound effects, and some ambiant background if I recall, bridge crumbling was a nice touch. Gameplay wise, the absence of the Homing Attack was difficult for me, I loved that innovative touch but classic Sonic lacked it :( and there was no boosting :( ). All in all in was a fun experience and I have a preorder secured for November for it. What about you?

On OoT: The game is a joke now after getting through those two difficult dungeons...Water Temple was laughable easy, lol. Headed to the Well. Im so glad to finally experience Zelda in my life on the 3DS, however, I hope they bring Wind Waker, I love the graphics and would love to have that as my second entry into Zelda.

Ugh OoT 3D! AUGH!

This game borders on the line of frustratingly tear inducing difficult. It brought me to tears in Jabu Jabu, the midboss was so difficulty, and then the Bio-Electric Anemone, Barinade, was too intense. I try to avoid boss strategy guides. It was just too much, how could Ninty make such a difficult game. It took me 5 hours to get out of this dungeon and through those two bosses!!!On the verge of just shelving this game and selling it back!
