I'm doing a presentation about blogs for a college class of mine. Ironically, I picked this one as an example of a blog.
If many of my journal readers don't already know, I am an attempting novelist. I say attempting because it is difficult for me to continue work on my novel while I'm in college and have two jobs.
Anyway, the novel I am currently working on is entitled "Memories of Mana" and is currently in the first editing phase. I still need to complete the last 1/8 of the novel as far as story is concerned but that should be no problem, I just want to go through and edit what I already have.
When realizing how much content I have, it looks like I'm going to have a series. Its going to take at least a couple of long novels to cover the ideas I already have and there are other ideas with the series I am intending.
I am still in the process of working out a title for Memories of Mana 2. It will be quite difficult since many of the factors that went into naming the first novel will be completely different from the second. The second, the lead character has all of his memories back. Now, he just needs to find the friends he lost retrieving them.
Right now, depending on if I get the first novel published and if its successful. We're looking at maybe later 2008-2009 until I can even get started with the sequel. Also, depending on the success of the first one will dictate on how much time and effort I can put into the sequel.
I...I...I can't believe it! I know what one of my Christmas presents is.
I can't believe this. Well, I'll tell you what happened.
I was rummaging around in GameStop last night, looking desperately for a videogame in order to give to my sister for Christmas. I didn't find the game she wanted, but I found something that made me squeal like a school girl.
What I found, was the game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. No, not the second one the first one.
It's kind of a funny story because I just went into a different videogame store and found this guy just got a copy of it and was selling it for $90.
Well, guess how much GameStop was selling it for? $40...plus, I got like a five dollar discount for using my GameStop card.
Actually, what happened is I told my mom about it and she gave me the money to buy it and said to give the game to her and she'll give it to me for Christmas.
I don't think I've ever been so happy in my life! If you know me, you know I've been searching for a copy of Disgaea for nearly three years. Sure, I've found it places but for never cheaper than $60 or $70. Not to mention its in mint condition.
'sigh' It's a great day to be a gamer!
Since there are some AMVs I just love to death...and keep losing in the depths of YouTube, I'm going to place them here so I don't lose them again...until they are removed from YouTube.

Okay, there have been a couple of people that really want to know more about my novel. Since you are all so interested, I'll give you a little character profile and a short wrap-up of what it is about.
Title: Memories of Mana.
Setting: Earth...with a twist...it is futuristic.
Plot: Several hundred of years have passed and the Earth has changed. A meteor had struck the Earth and it wiped out much of the human race. The few who did survive lived off of the technology they could salvage to start a new world. The continents broke up, shifted, and even most of it sunk into the ocean. Since the meteor hundreds of years before, the Earth has began to thrive again, with humanity spanning across the globe. Nine seperate island countries exist now, each holding their own forms of government.
Belarius, one of the countries, is a democracy and is at war with Denal, a monarchy. Since the two nations are seperated by a vast amount of ocean, most of the combat that takes place is ocean combat. Now, for the character profiles.
One of the major changes Earth has undergone is the use of an energy source called mana. Mana was discovered by humans when digging deep into the Earth. They believed it to be an energy source from the core, but what it is in all actuality is an alien material capable of widespread destruction. It came to Earth on the meteor that landed several hundreds of years earlier.
There's also one more thing you need to know. Twenty six years before the current settings of the novel, there was an experiment performed by genetic scientists. With a small group of humans, these scientists altered the human genetic code by combining it with mana. The result, humans with very unique abilities. These abilities are mostly visible through combat, but some abilities are not used for fighting.
MAJOR SPOILER...READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...These abilities are actually the powers of the aliens that the mana material really is. Mana is actually an alien being, in which by combining with the human genetic code, has created a different species...superhumans, so to speak. Later in the book, the characters with mana genes learn to harmonize their genetic code, and release the mana god (the name of the alien combined with the human's genetic code) which have unimaginable powers. END SPOILER
I'll be loading character profiles soon. I hope this will tide you over until I upload those character profiles.
Wow, it's been a really, really long time since I've done a journal entry. I suppose everyone wants to know how I'm doing.
Well, just so you know, I'm doing great. I've just started my third year of college, second at Winona State University. I am a Mass. Comm. Broadcasting major with a Comm. Studies minor.
As many of you already know, I was writing a book over the summer. I am still writing that book. I called it Memories of Mana and so far, I have 282 pages of Microsoft Word single spaced completed. I still need to go through a little editing but it will probably end up being longer due to adding description. I would have to say that I am probably 25% complete with the novel. It's taking a really long time because I have many other things going on in my life.
One of the classes I am taking this fall is Beginning Japanese. It is a language course that I wanted to take to fulfill my university studies. I am also taking it because I am a huge fan of subtitled anime and Japanese RPGs. So, I figured this is something I would really want to learn.
I am not really on GameSpot as much as I would like to be. I'm still trying to get on here at least once or twice a day to check up on my favorite unions. Still, it would be nice to chat with you all again. So much has happened during the summer and the first few weeks of school. It's difficult for me to do all the things that I used to but I certainly do try and do a little of everything.
Well, I'm going home now. I won't be back until Sunday night. Sorry y'all but even I need a break once and a while.
See you Sunday!
Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't been active lately but to tell you the truth, I'm losing the desire to come on GameSpot anymore. I'm not saying that I'm going and I'm not coming back but I just don't know how much I want to be on here anymore. I have other things going on with my life and I just lack the desire to come on here during my free time.
I've already been demoted from one union for not being there enough and I'm sure that I'll probably be demoted from others if I keep this up.
I apologize to those that are apart of the Get Animated Union. I just don't know what to do anymore with this banner issue I'm having. I wish I knew what to do to fix the problem but I just don't know what to do.
Well, I guess from now on, I'll be very mysterious when I show up to GameSpot. I might be here a lot at times and I might not be here at all at times.
I have to apologize to all my friends on here. It's not you guys that are driving me away from GameSpot, it's just my own personal reasons that I just don't care to share with all of you.
Well, I guess I'll just see you all later. I can't guarantee when I'll be back on here but I hope it will be soon.
This is depressing. I came back to GameSpot over Christmas break and I find that a lot of my good friends on here have just disappeared.
They are still on my friends list but they haven't been on here for a long, long time. Where are they? Don't they know I miss them? :(
Don't get me wrong. I still have friends here but there are a lot of people I was looking forward to chat with and haven't been there.
asuka, where are you? You're one of these friends. I know you've had some personal issues lately but I'm feeling depressed not hearing from you.
KukSoolMaster, I used to have these real late night chat sessions with you on The Square-Enix Gamer's Lounge. You've basically dropped off the face of the earth. Am I alone at this time of night again? :(
megaflare, I don't know you as well as some other friends of mine but you are an officer in my union and I haven't heard from you since the union started. Where are you?
And then there's members like, issac_trevor, BurningDragoon, DannyWolt, PantsGamer, Niebeer, and many more from The Square-Enix Gamer's Lounge that I just haven't heard from. I remember when you couldn't even keep up with all the posts in that union. Now it's a rarity if anyone ever posts. Where is everyone? Speak to me! C'mon! I'm lonely here.
I'm going to sign off for the night. I'm just so lonely that I don't even feel like rambling on anymore. :(
Okay, I don't get it. I'm thinking about getting Disgaea.
However, everywhere I look want to like $35 to $50 for a game that is more than 2 years old. How can you do something like that. It's kind of like first Fullmetal Alchemist game. They still want like $35 bucks for a game that's like 2 years old. I mean, Halo was $50 for the longest period of any game on the face of the earth but that was because it was a super seller. What did FMA do? Still, it's things like these that just aggrevate me.
