E3 of old was the gaming world equivalent of Mardi Gras. Imagine for a moment, a bunch of suits walking in to New Orleans and saying, "No beads, No costumes, No floats, No beer. It will help us conduct business more efficiently". Sure, you could continue calling it Mardi Gras year after year, but the heart of it would be dead. Was I ever at an E3 conference... no. But that's kind of the point. Once a year, we desk jockeys got to live vicariously through the Gamespot staff. The buzz, energy, and excitement on the E3 floor seemed to radiate from our live video streams. "Check out the booth babes! Look at the dork dressed up as his favorite video game character!" E3 was a party and now it's been crashed. What I also find troubling is that Gamespot staff does not appear to share this sentiment. I love Gamespot and don't wish to be overly harsh in my criticism, but have they forgotten their audience?

I hope you people go back and read your own ignorant posts after the PS3 comes out and sells millions. Has everyone already forgotten the 360? I seem to recall people paying upwards of a $1,000 to get 360 packages. Ya, it had games packaged with it, but it still proves that people have that kind of money to fork out. I also recall 360's selling on e-bay like hot cakes for over $1,000, and that was just for the "Plain Jane" system... all because people were merely too impatient to wait for Microsoft to ship more. Here's a reality check! The PS3 will launch and people will pay the $600. Just because a handful of you posters won't, is no reflection on the rest of the populace. Wake up and smell what you're shoveling. -TooCool
