I can envision a scenario in which PS3 are sold in developing countries for another 2-3 years. It is a perfectly competent HD streaming device. It has a large library of games and it functions as a Blu Ray player.

In terms of new games, I don't see much more in the pipeline here for US developed and published games. Activision just cut support for Destiny updates. That's a big deal. Don't expect much after Persona 5 in terms of significant US releases. I expect support in Japan to last a few more years. I can envision @Megavideogamer's timeline of support till 2020.

It is proprietary hardware that is NOT backwards compatible. MSRP I believe is still around or above, $199.

If they could find a way to get the price down to $99, and reformat the hardware one more time to a mini, I could see it having one last gasp of sales.

The first play though where you just let it flow was awesome.

The second play through on the hardest difficulty while actively looking for things was the best experience.

I could see them doing what they did with AC4, BF4, and CoD: Ghosts.

If you have the physical copy, you pay $30 for the upgrade code and use your PS3 disk as the unlock. Remember, not everyone owns the DLC. So yes, I predict Season Pass owners will get the shaft.

I could picture a scenario were owners of the digital version plus season pass could upgrade for $10-20.

Not holding my breath though.

This is a rare exception where I'll probably rebuy the game at full price.

If anyone has the PS3 version of the game and wants to level up with me, please let me know! I'm trying to get my Level 35 Monk up to Level 60 with a good set of Legendary Items in anticipation of the PS4 release.

No thank you!

I was feeling fatigue from one of my most beloved series' after the third proper game and the 2 PSP spin offs.

After the third one, isn't the series over? I hate to say it, I don't want another God of War. I want something new!

Glad to see Splinter Cell: Blacklist getting the love that it rightfully deserves!

Playing The Last of Us on the hardest difficulty was a tense, memorable stealth experience for me. Felt even better than playing MGS 4 on the second toughest difficulty.

Eventually I'm going to go back and pick up the Director's Cut of Deux Ex and give it another go. I keep on hearing great things about that game.

PS3 is a great piece of hardware to have.

It is a fantastic gaming machine with tons of great, cheap games. It functions as a Blu-Ray player, Netflix Streaming, HBO Go, and You Tube machine. You can store all your music on it and use it as a jukebox. You can stream media from your computer onto it...It's a wonderful piece of hardware that has developed over time.

Eventually, my original 60 GB monster, is going to die. It'll be a very sad day for me, but I'll happily buy another PS3 because I have no intention of giving up my massive collection of games (most are digital thankfully). Even though I have moved on to PS4, my most anticipated title is coming in 2015, as a PS3 exclusive! (Persona 5)

I would say this is the last strong year for the PS3, as most studios will move onto PS4 projects exclusively. Next year should also see the last of the cross generational titles.

For $200-300 you can get a whole lot of entertainment on PS3.

I am of the school of thought that if you like to try out different types of games and enjoy having a digital collection, then PS+ is a great deal. I have had it since day one and have taken advantage of a lot of great sales to get games like GTA IV or Red Dead Redemption for like 5 bucks. You get games like Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, and Uncharted 3 from the IGC. It's $50 for the subscription, but add in like $50-100 to take advantage of sales and you can get yourself a huge collection fast.

1. Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes: I'm an MGS fanatic, and in my honest opinion, this is the best example of a true next generation game. Everything about this game (mission) screams quality. The lighting, shadows, AI, sound, mission structure, controls, design, atmosphere, and environmental interactivity all impressed me very much. This has given me 100% complete confidence that MGS V: The Phantom Pain will be among the best of this generation.

2. Tomb Raider Definitive Edition: Playing it right now...glad I stopped playing the PS3 version about an hour in. The bar has been set pretty high for 3rd person action games for the rest of the generation. On sale for $30 on PSN right now!

3. Assassins Creed IV: Hadn't played an Assassins Creed game since the second. This was a really, really pleasant surprise. No question, the best launch title and for me, my favorite Assassins Creed. Not too much to say with regards to story, but the exploration aspect of this game was well done.

4. Battlefield 4: Maybe I'm just lucky, but I never ran into major issues online...an awesome experience.

5. inFamous Second Son: I really enjoyed the original game. The second was pretty good too, though it lacked some of the charm of the first. I came into Second Son with high hopes and expectations. The game has unique, fun powers to use, great sound design, and looks great, but it lacks soul. I enjoyed completing it 100%, but I don't really have any desire to do it again if that makes any sense. Probably worth waiting for a sale.

You're going to have to synch them to the network eventually.

At one point you're going to need to connect your Vita to the internet for an update. You don't need to buy anything. You just need an account.

The state of game development in general is trending down a dangerous path.

Games take a lot of money to make nowadays. It is difficult to create successful new IP's, and Ubisoft is banking on this series to be their next Assassins Creed.

This game has to be good, not necessarily great, to ensure a sequel. The game has to have a solid foundation from which it can continue to be refined over the following years. Think about how much Assassins Creed developed from the first, to the forth iteration.

Ubisoft is under a lot of pressure to deliver their version of a GTA world. It should have been made as a next gen exclusive, but instead, for profitability reasons, it was made cross-gen. Let us hope that this does not affect the ambition of this project.

I'm predicting an 8.

Sony needs to continue to focus on creating great games because in reality, that has always been their biggest advantage.

It just so happens that this time around, they drew first blood on price, once again, designed superior hardware, and have the support of the consumer both in terms of marketing hype and sales.

Sony can continue to improve their Plus service while introducing their Now service sometime this year. I think around December, we'll see a game like Killzone Shadowfall or Knack on the Instant Game Collection.

If all the multi plats continue to run better on PS4, they'll be fine if they focus on creating great exclusive games. The exclusives thus far have been good. Nothing great. Just good enough to showcase the ability of the platform.

Microsoft has Halo 5 and a new Gears of War coming and regardless of how you feel about them (I feel like they are getting stale), the series' move hardware. It is important for Sony to have something ready to answer with to continue to assert its initial dominance.
