The real difference between Sony and Microsoft

by on

So details are coming out with a fast rate concerning next gen consoles. Microsoft has made it clear with the recent media sharing not being avaliable for Non-Live subscribers. In fact the only thing you get for the Xbox One if you play offline is the singleplayer aspect of gaming. With the way thing is going, split-screen won't even matter because everyone is doing co-op over the internet now.

Sony is offering stuff like Netflix and media sharing for free. I think this is the way to go when it comes to gaming. Microsoft isn't making a silver an option at all for gamers. Stripping it for anything and not making it possible to enjoy anything at all on Xbox One. Now this might sound me hating on the Xbox One a lot. But i love the 360. But not having any option except for a subscription is just wrong in my opinion when there is not much choice. Sony will charge for the online gaming on their next console. But it's still possible to enjoy everything else there. Vita even has free Skype which i find odd when Microsoft is demanding money for it.

Anyone have an opinion on this?

Next Gen stuff (Generation 8)

by on

So currently i have paid down my PS4. It's 800 bucks and i can just pick it up when it's released. I have also preordered Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, The Crew, Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Now i rarely preorder games at all, i am very careful with this practice. But this time around i have done it because it's a new gen coming and i want some games for it. I have faith in all of them being good. Assassin's Creed 3 had its faults. But hopefully this time around they learned and it will be great.

I don't know what anyone else thinks of this if this is good or bad. I am doing this because i have faith in all these products and hopefully they will all be good.

Anyone else doing something similar? Or even preordered next gen games?

Going back to games you have beaten

by on

So i have gone back to playing Dragon Age: Origins on the PS3. And i am thinking of revisiting old territory with FFX HD and the Mass Effect series aswell. Going back to games i really like is something i enjoy doing a lot. I don't know about anyone else, but going back to the nostalgia is actually great at times.

Most of the times they are as good as you remember them. I wish i could find my old ps2 and rip up some games on Battlefront 2 sometimes :P, or even play some Mario 64. Some games are just classics in my mind and can be played for endless hours. I don't know if anyone else feels this way.

Anyhow i am just talking about the nostalgia about games and they power they hold with that. Don't know if anyone else feels this way. :P

Game sites, journalists and game reviews

by on

I think this is a problem that needs to be shed light on. It's a problem that doesn't get discusses too much and should be taken up for discussion.

Gaming websites should have more consistent views when reviewing games with the same journalists doing the same franchises and even genre's. The reviews are often inconsistent with the sites earlier reviews and it should be done by the same person at least when it comes to the same game series.

It shouldn't be that hard for the bigger sites to make their reviewers take on certain type of games or series. This way you get to more the view of the reviewer and you know what he means. You know what the person means with the negatives and postives on the games. It gets also a lot easier for the viewers and consumers to know how the game actually feels like and how it is.

This shouldn't be a problem, yet i feel like it is at most sites. Because reviews are conflicting and confusing. When people look at franchises and it gets a lot of different scores through the series. it should than be known it was by the same person. Because if it isn't what message is it sending?

The dust has settled and now we can see the next gen on the horizon

Now that there has been some time between E3 and all the announcments we might have a clearer picture of the new generation of games and consoles.

The Xbox One will not restrict players and used games anymore. They have worked on this for a while. Canceling all the roundtable interviews might have been one of the reasons they changed it in the first place. But why did they do this in the first place? I will try not to be too harsh on the Xbox One and Microsoft. Now i am not arguing this in any way, they did change the policies. But they shouldn't have done this in the first place. It also looks like a lot of games are going to require the cloud or online to play games. Even though the console allows offline play, it does seem they are pushing the cloud and online gaming. They do have Twitch and new achievment system which is great for achievment hunters like myself. But it's not worth getting for me at this point in time

That being said, the games like Forza 5 is really looking good. I have been a major Forza fan since the third game. I think the game series has a lot of potential and is the best racing series at the moment. I also liked Spark a lot. There is something interesting there that might open the door for the Xbox One. But the lack of indie games is disturbing for this console. Not supporting indie developers might not give them the depth the other consoles have.

Playstation 4 is looking promising in my eyes. It is looking to be the system to go with for my part. It is consumer friendly, supports indie's and has a really big exclusive lineup. I am really looking forward to Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4, The Crew and Knack. I am also looking forward what they can offer us post launch and more games coming next year. I have already preordered this system. I rarely preorder but i have done it with this system and a few games with them.

The games are looking to be great and i hope the new games will live up to the hype. I also hope the Wii U can get more games for it and hopefully get more support for it.
