Gamestop's borderline crazy policies these days are the only thing I have going for my store. I mean, you can't get trade-in values over the phone at all anymore. I get it when they're busy, sure, but otherwise they're just trying to maneuver you into a position where impulse trading is most likely.

I managed a store for them long before the merger, and the policies started to tighten on a daily basis around the end. Some of the worst stuff, like being written up for not mainting a 34% multi-sale transaction rate and 10% pre-order rate, are things of the past from what I hear. In other ways, they've just gotten more loopy.

I don't blame the employees. Everybody wants to work at a game store. Right now I have more people coming in and asking for jobs than I do number of sales.

As a dude who owns a video game store, I have to stay painfully honest. I'd love to recommend the PS3 to each and every customer, but budgets and tastes vary and I won't sell something to a customer when I think they'd do better on the alternates.

That said, I do my best to illuminate the lies with the truth and point out what makes the PS3 a technically superior system (the programmers need to get their brains around it, but that was the same problem with the PS2, the code was relatively obtuse until devs fiddled with it for a bit. I'm certain we'll be seeing the graphics bar getting raised within the next year.)

To answer the question, if somebody attacks it, that's their prerogative. If somebody attacks it with lies, that's another matter entirely.

On the off-chance you find your PS3 overheating, it might be wise to purchase a cooling unit. Some of them are really cheap, and they're basically a necessity with the 360 units that overheat. Either way, I suspect they'll add to the lifespan of even properly working PS3s.

Wow, good tip. I can't even buy them for my store for that little. I looked, and sure enough it's with the guncon and everything!

Really, quite an exceptional find.

I haven't played online much, but I prefer at least basic courtesy. I do let fly with the occasional profanity, but it's hardly bad-natured or abusive. I've also been fortunate in that almost everybody I've "met" online has been pretty cool, and I say that as somebody who can let his ego get a bit out of control.

I'm not going to wave a fanboy flag, this was also my experience with Crimson Skies on the original Xbox. Good people, for the most part.

Get a paper towel. Use it! Wipe the PS3 with all your anger and your journey to the clean side shall be complete!

Er, seriously, this is a silly complaint.

Too bad we can't just organize our teams and use tactics to improve game play rather then just run around killing at random while blathering on. Thats why I'm getting COD4 and a PS3 (60GB) because I want to get a mic aswell and do some tactics with you guys.-shmelo-

I don't see why you can't start a clean play group. Sounds like a good friendly informal clan idea, actually.

I liked it, but I have to agree; Carbon is probably a better, cheaper alternative while waiting for GT5.

Also keep in mind that the 40gb has two usb ports instead of four, plus no flash card or SACD support.

If that and the backwards compatibility make no difference to you, the 40 is the way to go.

i know ! yall talking about the first saints row you know they are going to try to compete with gta 4 and bring even more entertainment you think gta 4 is going to have online capabilityson_of_akiller

This is banking on stuff that is simply speculation. If you had claimed the first Saints Row was going to compete with San Andreas, you'd have been wrong. It was GTA3 at best. How do we know SR2 would go even as far as Vice City? We don't. All it has in its favor is online play, which frankly anybody into the GTA series could probably give a flip about. I don't. The last thing I need is to have my ride blown to bits by some squeaky-voiced teen trying to act gangsta.
