Gamestop's borderline crazy policies these days are the only thing I have going for my store. I mean, you can't get trade-in values over the phone at all anymore. I get it when they're busy, sure, but otherwise they're just trying to maneuver you into a position where impulse trading is most likely.
I managed a store for them long before the merger, and the policies started to tighten on a daily basis around the end. Some of the worst stuff, like being written up for not mainting a 34% multi-sale transaction rate and 10% pre-order rate, are things of the past from what I hear. In other ways, they've just gotten more loopy.
I don't blame the employees. Everybody wants to work at a game store. Right now I have more people coming in and asking for jobs than I do number of sales.
