[QUOTE="charizard1605"] Like a second analog stick add on? New AR technology? I don't know...ShuichiChamp24

How would a second analog even work?

Maybe Nintendo really is panicking and is releasing a hardware revision already.

Remember Pokemon type? Came with a key board for the DS. It connected to it by bluetooth, could be a way for it to be too no?

The 3DS doesn't have Bluetooth as far as I am aware. They would have to put a chip in compatible game cards, as they did for that Pokemon game. And an even bigger problem is that the peripheral would have to have its own separate battery to charge.

I look at the 3DS and just shake my head. It really isn't that big of a jump from the DS, kind of like the Gamecube to the Wii with a gimmick. I do not know what it is gonna take for these die hard Nintendo fanboys to realize there are much better options out there. I honestly think Nintendo has become a secondary device for most people.

Compared to the DS, it is a big jump. The internal hardware is completely different. Not simply modified like the Wii was to the GCN.

No it doesn't. The primary users of handhelds are children and Sony isn't targetting children.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"]Just like the PSP had a better chance to succeed than the DS?hakanakumono

Zing! Exactly! The PSV is going to follow in the PSP's footsteps. "Fail" because it's priced too high.

Are we already forgetting that the Vita will launch at the same price as the 3DS did? PSP never had a problem selling hardware, mind you.

But the two systems won't be the same price when the Vita launches.

I used to play my PS3 and 360 on a 13" CRT (see blog). It was tolerable, even if the text was almost illegible at times.

Anyway yeah, Wii U can output in HD. So the only way you could avoid it now is with a handheld.

Pretty much this. Move is an option for gamers who like motion controls that work, and it's the only option for those people really. Why would you want a "move-only" title? Then you have to have it to play that game.

Pug-Nasty
While optional support is nice, to take the fullest advantage of any control method a game must be designed from the ground up for it.
You do realize Move was in development before the Wii, right?Oil_rope_bombs
The basic sphere tracking technology was in development before Wii. Move itself didn't come about until after.

With Digital Distribution, there is no need for publishers.

Publishers don't just fund the pressing of data onto discs, they fund the entire development of games. A game released over a DD network still requires development, and still requires funding. The disc pressing is a marginal cost compared to the development.

There can be a developer and gamer direct relationship. 99% of games aren't even publisher backed, so that stat is false.

Obviously, I was using that percentage in reply to the other poster. I have no idea what percentage of games are publisher backed, but it is certainly a very large amount. The number probably shrinks as you broaden what types of games you include... flash, arcade, whatever, but a full game is expensive and risky, which is why publishers exist.

All publishers want to do is broaden the game to a bigger audience and pump out as many games as possible, profitabled of course. That kills developer traditions and inner-cultures. Less innovation in games, less compeition.

Publicly traded corporations exist solely to earn money for their investors. Any publicly traded entity has less freedom to take risks because risky behaviour causes investors to flee, which cause the company to shut down even if business is good.

ShadowDeathX

Publishers do fund the game, I agree. But if you take them out, developers will still be able to fund it themselves. All the profits of the game will be directed towards them as well.

Not every developer can afford the tens of millions of dollars it takes to develop a modern game.

As long as you dont punish the people who buy your games, I'm cool with it. Heil68
But see, that's all DRM actually manages to do. It doesn't hinder the would-be pirates.

get rid of copyrights and intellectual property as a whole I say.

dkdk999
I think copyrights are important. However the modern copyright period (70 years after the death for personal copyrights, the earlier of 90 years after publishing or 120 years after creation for corporate copyrights) is ridiculous. I believe we should go back to the pre-1978 system of 28 years after filing with the option of renewing once for another 28 years.

Multitouch is better, and besides, they make styluses that are compatible with it.Timstuff

This is a capacitve stylus:

Notice that there is no fine tip. Just a chunk of foam at the end. Which makes these things a lot more finicky and imprecise compared to a conventional stylus.
