Well, speaking AS a vet (Afghanistan), I'd have to say winning or losing doesn't really matter as far as a video game.

Seriously, we don't do this job for the thanks (or lack thereof), and even then, if you're looking to be remembered by a game you're doing it wrong. I personally had no problems with accurate and inaccurate portrayals of the military in COD4- it's just a fun game, take it at that.

I think the issue is that the previous Vietnam games out there were just mediocre at best for other reasons. Now as technology has caught up and CoD is starting to get a little stale with WWII (IMO), I think a Vietnam game could be cool. Use some of the Tech that Far Cry and Crysis pioneered to make the dense jungle environments and it could be fun, at least from the special forces side. Lots of sneaking and stuff.

BUT gamers want variety, and there simply weren't the large-scale tank and vehicle battles and such that have become the hallmark of games these days. The developer would probably have to rely on smaller engagements, and unless the story and gameplay can hold up the lack of variety, it may not work.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Korean war game. Move on from WWII and open up some new battlefields of Korea- could be cool, especially with modern envronmental effects.

Hey guys, I'm looking for the best RPG's available on the 360

I've got Fable II and Fallout 3 already so make recommendations around that...I've been thinking about oblivion, tales of vesperia and eternal sonata, can anyone give me advice on those along with other recommendations?

HybridPhoenix

I'd have to say my favorite two RPGs on Xbox 360 are Oblivion and Mass Effect. Both had me playing games way more often than is probably healthy.

It ws a while ago, but I'd have to say F.E.A.R. Not a bad game by any means, but for some reason the game just never "clicked" with me. I more finished it because I had nothing better to do in my off time (in the Army, deployed to Afghanistan at the time), but never really had any feeling about it.

I haven't preordered a single game since I was in college, oh say 5 or 6 years ago was the latest.  There is so mych hype these days that drives up demand for cool looking games artificially. Supply chains are relatively quick to restock after a week or so- so why waste $60 just to be the absolute first to pay what may be a crappy game? I'll wait the week or two and ensure my $60 is going to a game that deserves the hype and my attention :)

I had a BLAST with Dead Space. Judging by your lack of enthusiasm about Gears 2, Far Cry, and CoD, I wouldn't go with another shooter.

However! Dead Space is relatively short- I beat it in a lazy weekend. If you have 4 weeks off and a lot of time to play, RENT Dead Space and play it at night with the lights off and surround sound turned way up for the best experience.

I actually get my freezes during gameplay. Fable 2 will not last longer than 10 minutes any more without completely crashing. I'm not even trying to USE any of the new features. I'm not playing the game from my hard drive or anything. I never even play multiplayer online- I only even use the online connection to download extras and Rock Band songs. Now because of all these functions I'll never use, Fable's basically unplayable.

Fallout 3 is crashing every hour or so, but at least with autosave that's manageable. I've never had any problems before. In fact, this is a brand new system because it fried my last XBox 360 with a permanent RROD on Friday, so I bought a new one instead of getting refurbished crap back.

Fried my 360 yesterday. That was my 3rd one.

I bought my original X360 in 2006, 2 weeks later I was RROD'd. Same happened with the refurbished one they sent me. The 3rd one I got back after exchanging the second lasted me until yesterday.

I installed NXE on Wednesday, Friday morning my X360 RROD'd on me. Waiting a few hours had no effect. Instead of paying $100 for a repair out of warranty and getting another refurbished one back, I went out and got a brand new (manufacture date Aug 2008 ) X360 arcade, and just used my old hard drive (with NXE on it).

My first 2 hours was spent TRYING to play Fable 2, but it was freezing up every 10 minutes or so, requiring a reboot. Kicking myself for not taking Gamestop's option to pay $20 more for the convenience of in-store warranty exchanges, I figured I'd try another game. Fallout 3 worked perfectly the rest of the day.

I have yet to retry Fable 2, but I dread what's in store for me if I keep inducing errors. I've learned to take it where I can get it with my (4th!!!) XBox 360 and not tempt faate.
