I've played both games, and I think SC is better. DoW is fun (esp. all the carnage you can inflict) but SC is just a more balanced game (ten years worth of patches tends to do that.) I also love the huge "e-sports" thing SC has going for it; it's really cool to see people playing each other for HUGE cash prizes and such.

Plus SC has customs. It's always nice to be able to go 'screw it' to the regular gameplay and blow a couple hours pretending you're Portugal and conquering Europe in diplomacy. Although to be fair, DoW's maps aren't tile based so therefore user-created maps would be inconveniant to share.

Anyway, to some of the points said in this topic:

[QUOTE="Swiftstrike5"]No offence, but Ive never even thought about buying DoW. It just never struck me as looking like a good game. Starcraft will win because of its larger fanbase and because blizzard now has enough money from WoW to buy the world on ebay.Drazule

I spit in your face, DoW is winning by a landslide

DoW is winning, but not by a landslide. I don't think 14% is a landslide. Also, what's up with the "I spit in your face"? It's just a video game discussion topic. Chill. And if you're being sarcastic, my mistake. I've only read the last page.

F**k those SC2 people, do they have the diversity like gamespot? I choose starcraft though, because Dawn of war was just a battle between two lumbering armies with very poor balance between different units, basically you can win a game with all of one unit, online that is. And starcrafts campaign is so very well scripted compared to the edgy realtime close up rts cutscenes in DoW.

DoW's history and background are much more interesting.

Last I checked, I don't think Gamespot is anymore diverse than GFAQs is. Unless you can somehow provide evidence that GSpot has 50% of its viewers from Asia (or something), I think it can be safe to say that both websites have mostly American viewers.
