You are under the very mistaken impression that Microsoft is going to shut down Xbox Live?Jaysonguy

I'm under the impression that each console uses a different version of XBL. It's not like the original xbox and the 360 shared the same XBL.

Do you really expect your 360 or PS3 to be working 10-20 years from now so you can play those offline games?

If I look after them well enough then perhaps, if they break I can always get them repaired though.

Most people have internet connections, the 24 hour check in thing doesn't seem that big of a deal. drokmore

It is a big deal if you like going back to play your old consoles.

The console is reliant on microsoft's servers, which will eventually be shut down. Without the servers you can only use the console to watch films and TV. So all your xbone games are unplayable.

I go whip my old consoles all the time and play the classics. I won't be able to do that with the xbone when it's no longer supported.

being online all the time doesn't bother me... considering all my devices with internet access are always connected..even my cameras are connected.Tessellation

Do you like to play any of your old consoles? Maybe years after they've stopped being supported?

Because once Microsoft is finished supporting the xbone they'll turn off the servers, turning your xbone into little more than an overly expensive blu-ray player, and making all your games worthless because they don't care about backwards compatibility any more.

I wouldn't be so hasty to sing praises about the PS4 just yet.

For all we know it could be just as bad as the xbone.

I don't know about you guys the cyborg part of Big Boss is way off of the story on the Saga if you look at MGS1 they show a picture of Big Boss in the book come with the game and he did not have robot arm and MGS4 you see Big Boss there was no robot arm.

madness_snake1

He mentions that he's a cyborg in Metal Gear 2 though. He probably just switched to a less noticeable prosthetic or something.

I would maybe consider getting one when they get cheaper, if it wasn't for one thing:

The mandatory internet connection.

I have an ok internet connection, and when it does go down it's never for more than one day. However Microsoft's servers wont be up forever, so I don't want my console being turned into little more than a blu-ray player because Microsoft would rather focus on the xbox two.

And seeing as they don't give a shit about backwards compatibility anymore, all the games I buy for the xbone will become worthless without those servers too.

That might as well be classed as destruction of Art. It'd be like Hollywood making every copy of Citizen Kane spontaneously combust so they can get people to buy Citizen Kane 2: Rosebud's Revenge.

Ground Zeros is to The Phantom Pain what the Tanker mission was to the Big Shell incident in MGS2.

They were forced to stop the production of the first Xbox due to licensing, all work has to stop immediately on it.

The Xbox 360 was held back because they were forced to abandon the original Xbox. They needed to stop online support for games, the console still knew you were playing an Xbox game. You can still play Xbox games on the 360 right now, just not online.

The Xbox One will always be part of Live even if it's not able to play games online, the ability to still be part of the network is there.

Jaysonguy

Even if there was a reason to turn off the servers for the original xbox, what makes you think they'll need a reason for the 360 or the xbone? You see it happening all the time with anything that requires a server.

You should learn more and talk less

They're not going to shut off Live

If you knew what you were talking about you'd know they were forced to do everything with the first Xbox

Jaysonguy

What?

They were forced to turn off live for the first xbox? By who?
