I waited 2 years to buy my xbox, (bought it in o7) and it died on me one year later in 08'. Can't wait much longer than that. Only solution is live without Halo and not buy Microsoft at all. Long live Sony.

double3shot, are you sure he got the RRoD or another combo of the red lights? Did he unplug his system and hard drive before he turned it on?

Been playing games for almost 20 years and I have never experienced anything like this. Gaming should be about relaxing and enjoying yourself. Instead I now have to worry aoubt my 1 year old, $400 Xbox being repaired in Texas. I was always a Playstation/Nintendo guy and after this it will be the first and last Microsoft system I ever buy. What makes this so unacceptable is that Microsoft actually knew about this issue before the laucnh and STILL went ahead with it. Every one of my old systems still fires up just fine, including my PS1 from 1997 and even my NES from 89'. Microsoft no matter how good your customer service, you have failed us.
