Sword-bearer Blog

Resistance begins?

by on

Hello everyone!

It's was a loooooong while since a was here last time. Hard times come, you know:)

Speaking of hard times, I want to tell you a piece of news from Russia. Maybe you have already heard it, we had a meteor rain (not in my region) on Urals. Google "meteor in Russia" if you're interested.

Fortunately, everything seems OK. No one was badly injured,  though the blast (shockwave) was strong enough to shatter windows :o . Of course, we don't have such things happen everyday, so it's pretty scary for local people. It's also worth noting, that meteors are radioactive (space rocks have no protection). Anyways, I hope everything will be fine, though, maybe we'll have to fight Chimera after a couple of years lol. Just kidding:)

Happy New Year Everyone!

Happy New Year!

It has been a long time since the last blog, nothing serious changed since that time though.

It's 2:45 here, but we're still celebrating New Year. I think you heard, that in Russia, New Year Celebration is bigger than Christmas (history reasons). So I want to congratulate everyone with coming New Year and wish you to have a great celebration and lots of luck, happiness and love in 2012!

Yellow Light at the End of the Tunnel

by on

This was so dramatic.

She was a little more than 4 years old, working "in the name of Truth and Faith" (as we say in Russia) till the last moment several minutes ago... Please, my PS3, forgive me for overloading you with work!

I've just finished Dead Nation story (where the main character "dies") and then tried to login into my account and sync the trophies (and just to check the stuff in the mailbox) my PS3 made a shriek the red indicator flashed... And then off.

Turning on didn't work... The power indicator flashed YELLOW (  ) then red blinking and off...

...

...

...

I knew this may happen (but why did it happen with me???!! ) as I was downloading a bunch of games from 6 AM to 5 PM (then I gave her a little rest for an hour, but this wasn't enough, I guess... ). I think you know the story about 2 free games+30 day PS Plus membership. I was trying to get Burnout Paradise (over 3 GB!) and was on my 54-56% when this happened!

So, I feel kind of... eem... well a combination of being disappointed, sad, and... lost.

What I'm going to do? I don't know yet. I'll see if she will be alright tomorrow (though I'm sure it won't). And if she won't be alright... theeen... I'll see. Maybe I'll go somewhere trying to fix her or... minus 1-2 years of gaming

So that's the news, hope it will be alright soon.

*** If you didn't get the idea about the dramatic moment:

At the end of Dead Nation the main character becomes a kind of "experiment rabbit". A doctor was going to use his (main character's) DNA and the DNA of the first infected to get an antidote against the zombie-disease. But the virus has mutated, and the hero killed himself (or so) and became a zombie himself (kinda "died"). Same to my PS3. She has "died" or she's just playing dead

My gaming history.

by on

It has been quite a while I've written my last blog. Just because I didn't have anything to tell about. The whole GS is becoming boring, as many people get modded, banned or they get bored and go away themselves. However I still check the boards here and watch videos.

Some days ago I've been watching the games in my "cupboard". I've looked some PS, PS2 and several Game Boy titles and remembered some great moments from there. So, I decided to post here the list of the games "I'll never forget".

I think I'll begin with PSOne (however my first console was PS2), however here are not so much titles.

#5 MGS

MGS

I got it not so long ago (I downloaded it from PS Store) and didn't play it much yet. But I believe it's a great game! So, #5

#4 Dragon Valor

Dragon Valor

Dragon Valor is a good game with a tree-type story (I mean you can play different characters and get different episodes if you progress the story differently). You spend a lot of nice time solving the puzzles, walking in numerous locations (from Pirate ship to Volcano), collecting items and defeating bosses. However I didn't manage to complete it, I got stuck on the final boss and gave it up after numerous tries ( I didn't visit internet for help that time)

#3 Crash Bandicoot 2

Crash Bandicoot 2

What should I say here? Everyone knows who's Crash. I think the 2nd and the 4th were the best ones. Most of everything I like: the ways Crash die (sometimes that black humor is hilarious)

#2 Dino Crysis 2

Dino Crysis 2

That's what I played ages... I think I completed it 10+ times! I loved this game a lot, but I still don't know why I replayed it so much... The game was just perfect to me: good tech, great story and... japanese language

#1 Alundra

Alundra

Oh, that's my favourite! Even though it's a2D game, Alundra has some things which are hardly found in other games. The game has a genial story TONS of different and HARD puzzles (unmissable, BTW!) + lots of things to explore. I can't tell you all I think about this.

Now I'll go to PS2 titles (there'll be a little bit more).

#5 Torneko Adventures 3

Torneko Adventures 3

Torneko adventures is an awesome RPG, were you explore the dungeon, while trying to find the entrance/exit. You get a lot of weapons and shields as well as magic scrolls and so on....

#4 Crash Bandicoot 4 (The Wrath of Cortex)

Crash 4 Another one from Crash series. All the same, except improved #D graphics. Now Crash and the enviriments are not Cartoon-type.

#3 Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Castlevania

I don't even find a good word to describe how great is this game... Let me say briefly: it's an awesome game. You walk and explore a castle, with numerous enemies, loot, traps and bosses. You get into different surroundings and listen a great soundtrack.

#2 Resident Evil 4

RE4Oh yeah, this game is really great. However the zombies are kinda "clever" they're not like those scary undead guys walking across the streets. That's males the game not that much scary. However you still meet some disgusting and scary monsters. Great if you have a new gun purchased from the shop.

#1 Final Fantasy XII

I bet you thought it will be FFX! I think it's the best FF ever. Don't say me I', wrong - it's my choice.

I liked FFXII most, because of the free-roaming thing, that you can anywhere you want, from the very beginning, just upgrade your character. BTW about the upgrading - I find the "Beat the bad guys for experience" best of all upgrading types (+ you also spend that XP for upgrading character's abilities).

Another useful thing is the Gambit function (or how is that called), which works automatically on the logic function ("if [cause] then [action]") and lets you forget about casting some spells or choosing the attack ability.

.

.

Ugh... that's the end of the blog. I won't write about the PS3 games, because you will always place on the #1 place the game, you currently play.

I hope you didn't get bored while reading the blog :D

I've returned!

by on

So, I've returned back from my trip. And now I need to d a lot of things to do...

But here are some good and bad news:

Good:

1. I'm taking my computer backfrom repairs tomorrow  . It will take a few hours to install the programs back.

2. I've got some new games :). And I pushed my collection over 100 games!

Bad:

1. Something wrong with my PS3.. I think I'll bring it to repairs ( I take the computer, but I bring PS3! :( )

That's all. I'll try to be active these days.

My first Platinum

by on

This happened some hours ago. I was playing inFamous for a week already, and tried to get my first platinum trophy.

HRU

I had to complete game twice: as a Hero, and as InFamous (on hard). I got almost all trophies, but the trophy, for which you had to find all 350 Blast Shards (electrified pieces of ground, which you must collect by climbing over their place) took the most time, as it was hard to find some (I spent 2 days to find 2 Shards!). But finally I got them. With the platinum trophy.

I'm glad I did it myself. So that's my victory, and I'm glad of it!

Now about other things:

1). I wasn't so active on the unions last time, as I was ill, lying in the bed most of time, and had once about 40C! Now I'm OK.

2). I can't do any graphics these days, as my computer is broken! I'll bring it to repairations soon, and maybe, I'll get it back in two weeks :o! That's along time... For now I'll use my mom's laptop.

That's the whole news, hit me with a comment!

Okinawa Island 8)

2 hours and half by plane from Tokyo and you're on Okinawa Island in its capital Naha city.

OK

OK

It was my first visit to Okinawa. This quite distinguishing part of Japan. The people are kind and polite there like in all Japan. Tropical climate and sea are good for a nice rest. Many places to visit and to see. OK

ok

I can't write about all the places, but there are: diving, Aquanarium etc.and a famous historical place - Nakijin Castle Remains (which belongs to13th century!).

OKINAWA

The view is beautiful isn't it?

In Naha city I was lucky to find a game shop, not big as in Akihabara, but also good.

GS

GS

There's so much things! Games, films, devices, magazine, books, etc.

(As you see a 80GB PS3 costs 39,480 yen for 17.07.09)

It was my first experience in making Trip Reviews. I just wanted to tell you about places interesting for me.

Tokyo

Akihabara

Is an Electric City, an area with the most advanced electric products. One can get here everything from a simple bulb to a sophisticated advanced electric technologies. The best game shops are in this district.

Ak_1

ak

The game shops are 1-5 floor buildings:

I tried to take a pic in stores, but there are so many shelves and people, that I had to make a pic of entrance:

Tokyo is my favourite city.

Tokyo

Shibuya District 8)

Shibuya - is popular among the young people. The life boils here like water in a boiler. Here you can find a lot of music shops, and buy idol goods popular among teens. But the shops there are not only for young people.

SHB

SHB_1

Fancy-dressed young people fill the streets.

SHB_2

SHB_GIRLS

SHB_GIRLS_2

There are spontaneous impromptu street performances in the evening. It's very amusing. I like this part of Tokyo. Because in this district the main is to be individual.
