Although I disagree with davidsworld3 use of derogatory words, I have to agree with him on the utter lack of presentation of this significant RTS title and its remastering. I mean, there is nothing on the site's PC page or anything on their opening pages. I've come to Gamespot since way back in the late 90's, and they have slowly devolved into becoming prostitutes for the console manufacturers.

I get everything now through digital download. The last "hard" copy of a game I bought was Crysis. Steam and D2D are the way to go.

I very, very rarely pay full retail. During the Steam holiday sale, I bought several games and I'm still playing throug those purchases.

I would really like to get Assassins Creed 2, but the developer is high if they think I'm payin' $60.00. I'll wait till it goes down to $30 before I touch it.

Titan Quest is decent. Hack and slash with plent of loot and a long campaign.

You can probably get it cheap on Steam.

I'm really hoping it is a bit better than AC1. The period that they are setting this in is awesome. Hopefully the gameplay can live up to the premise.

I'm not too keen on the whole, DNA thing. Just make a great game in the period. No need for those boring scenes at that stupid lab.

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]That is quite a bit more than a 'good' PC. That is ragingly top of the line. To have a good PC would cost almost less than a quarter of that price.GTR2addict

Actually, he could of bought my HTPC which I'm thinking of selling for $380.00. It has

  • E6600
  • 320GB HD
  • 8800gtx
  • 680i mobo
  • CoolMaster Case
  • 4Gb PC6400 Ram
  • Antec PS

It would play games just about as wel as that system he listed.

good ol' 8800 GTX, freakin monster even to this day

Yep. Probably one of the greatest video cards ever made.

It would be nice if the Google Chrome OS would support PC gaming and actually thrive. That would really kick MS in the arse.

The current state of PC gaming is no fault of the PC. It has slowly devolved into its present state by Microsoft corporate design.

Once Microsoft entered the console market, they have slowly been usurping the PC and funneling its technologies into the Xbox platform. They buy out developers, pay for exclusive or delayed releases and don't produce anything from their publishing division for the PC.

This is most unfortunate for all gamers as the PC used to lead the way in progress and technology. Now we are forced to be stuck in console development cycles dictated by a corporation. These cycles typically nowlast over a half decade, or longer. Its called technological stagnation.

That is why you hear many gamers lamenting the fact that there is less innovation in gaming these days. Endless rehashes and sequels.

...it's mostly only Microsoft. They're using timed exclusives to try to coerce PC gamers into buying Xbox 360s (they shamelessly admit this as their intent). I wish they'd just accept that Windows is as much their gaming platform as the X360.

This really is THE reason that PC gaming has been laboring. Back in 2000 just before the Xbox release, Microsoft admitted that PC gaming was in the way of their Xbox strategy. I think they are probably suprised at how well PC gaming is still doing despite their efforts to curtail its gamer base.

They have slowly been trying to erode support for the PC and coerce gamers to invest in their Xbox platform. This is clearly evident by the fact that they hold back PC release dates and their publishing studio now produces virtually no PC game titles. They want to control the entire video entertainment industry through their hardware. As a result, I don't think I've ever witnessed a more dull and boring time in gaming history as I've witnessed in the past two years. Coincidentally this period seems to coincide with their second Xbox product.

Of course corporations are in this to make money. That is free market capitalism. Unfortunately no other company in the world would be able to do what Microsoft has done because most companies don't have the money. Microsoft has plenty of money due to their questionable business practices and have subsidized their way into trying to control video gaming. This is a fact and is supported by the many times governments across the planet have taken them to court.

Paying for online access is stupid and foolish in my opinion. Although I hear the service is great, it should be part of owning an Xbox, not an added expense. And yes, I know it isn't that much money, but that argument can also be turned against Microsoft: If it isn't that much money, then why charge it?

Microsoft's whole Xbox premise, I feel, is bad for video gaming. I have never liked it from the start, and after almost a decade of existance I see its effects of slowing down and dimming the overall quality of games.

I am not a Microsoft hater. I enjoy my Zune and Windows PC's. I just think they have too much power, and this power is garnered and wielded because they have too much power.

More competition or an open platform is better for gamers.
