So basically you have to buy stuff because it's there?

No you need these things. Like the MotionPlus MAY be required for the new Zelda and Red Steel 2 will definitely use it. I'm sure other games will follow suit. And this kind of functionality should have been in since the beginning. You need WiiSpeak to communicate in any good shooter where you actually want to coordinate as a team so WiiSpeak is required. At least I hope other people have one for the Conduit or it's going to be horrible and I'll go back to playing other shooters. The component cables are $30 (official Nintendo cables) when they come with the Xbox 360. I even forgot the SD cards for all the Virtual Console games. You NEED the classic controller for some Virtual console games.
I love how everyone is giving the GC so much credit for how powerful it was now... when last it got no respect for it's power. last gen was about games this gen is about power. each console needs to be judged on the criteria for each specific generation. games no longer matter only the power of the system you play on No it's always about games. Only for Sony fans this gen has it been power. And for Xbox fans last gen it was power. Power seems to take the place for lack of games in the initial stages of console lifes it seems though.
Optional: Vitality Sensor, Classic Controller (Necessary for some games)
This is without a hard drive, HD graphics, lackingas many good games as 360 or PS3. And yes I own a Wii and have been a Nintendo fan. But lately they're disappointing me.
The Wii isn't amazing. The software that Nintendo releases amazes me. The first time I played a Zelda and Mario game I instantly loved them. They have a way of making memorable games that the other two rarely have.
I can see Microsoft hitting the mainstream pretty hard with Natal now. I really hope the Playstation Wand thing can keep up with it. Competition is good.
Fallout 3 is really really good and my favorite out of the two. Oblivion is huge and seems like it has so much more things to do and feels like a huge living breathing world. If you like shooters I would go for Fallout, but if you prefer fantasy, Oblivion is the way to go.
