The game wasn't worth a proper video review.  When they give something a 8, it pretty much sais it's just not really worth it.  That was just a bogus number it really deserves at the most a 7, for me 6 just because it's so boring, and uninteresting. I stopped playing it.  I used to be excited about playing shogun 2 total war when I got home from work or when I wake up, but I'm just tired of the series.  It hasn't made any advancements with technology at all.

Yes I think so too. They just make a few cosmetic changes and call it a new game. They should look to Civilization to see how sequels should be approached - improvements, not just changes.

Yes the AI disappointed me in the same way it has for all Total War games.

But I had some fun playing as Egypt: On hard, I had an elephant-general alone with no army, sitting out in the field. He was attacked by an 8-stack army, I figured he'd get smoked but I wanted to test elephants so I fought it out... My elephant-general trampled them all. He didn't take a single loss. I proceeded to take the entire province west of Egypt with him and him *alone*. It was fun for all the wrong reasons.

So if you're playing as Egypt, know that your elephant-generals are invincible for at least 20 turns and you can just trample everyone. It would be cool if people would try this and report back how it went. It was very funny for me.

Uncharted 3 and GTA IV are both good games that just don't come close to being as great as their predecessor.handssss

I agree on GTAIV. I suppose I was spoiled by San Andreas, which had so many fun divertions there was always something to do. With GTA IV, if I remember right, there were only story missions and racing. Multiplayer was fun for a while, though.

[QUOTE="UWantFryzWitDat"]You expect to have no updates on a game you install 2 years after release? All of your complaints are pretty dumb and it looks like you already hated EA long before this. Quit nitpicking.Mozelleple112
Nitpicking? I think I have more than enough complaints to justify the hate... 2 years later or not, an hour ++ worth of patches for a 3.3MB/s download speed is ridiculous... And no, I have not had any problems with EA before so I did not hate EA long before this. As I stated in my first post I sort-of quite gaming back in '10-11 and have only just started again this summer. Back in my day son, EA was still cool.

Time was, you could play a single player game without patching if you didn't want to. I suppose piracy led us here.

Fallout Tactics, Panzer Corps, Faster Than Light, Rogue Legacy, Worms Revolution. Maybe some of those won't work but they don't seem graphically intense and don't need a mouse.

I think maybe presentation or direction is more important than the technical level of the graphics.

You can have very good gameplay but mediocre graphics and still have a great game, but the reverse isn't true: you can't have a great game without great gameplay, even with spectacular graphics.

I suppose it's subjective. These days the PC is where it's at for me, mostly because I'm terrible with an analog stick and all the good games on consoles seem to involve moving crosshairs around and shooting. I can't hit anything. So for me it's all about Total War, Civilization, Fallout.

But I have very fond memories of an older era of consoles. Final Fantasy, Zedla, and Metal Gear were very good NES games that spawned excellent franchises that are still strong.

There's great games everywhere, I think. Sometimes people get attached to whatever platform they own and attack what they don't. But there's great games everywhere.

I mostly agree with you, getsmelifted. I was hoping FFXII would dethrone VII as my favorite console rpg.

The story is pretty weak. Though the concept had promise, it isn't fleshed out at all. I didn't find it very intriguing. I think back to FFVII much more fondly.

I miss collecting cards, I miss enemy skills! (Where's our blue mage?!), I miss flying around in an airship.

The battle system seems to me to be amost exactly like any other FF except that you can move your guys around. And also whenever I tried to get all my guys to cast a big spell they'd just sit there getting pounded for a while.

Gambits felt like a chore to me. As for licenses, I always had far more than I needed to get the currently availble weapons/spells/etc. so I splurged them and everyone ended up having mostly the same abilities. And later in the game they could all use the same weapons too. (Don't get me started on the Zodiac Spear!)

FFXII didn't meet my expectations, but they were extremely high and it's still a really good game.

   No collectable card game!

Also the growth system seems weak. I would have enjoyed it more if instead of boring licenses I could use Jobs or Materia or both maybe. The characters all seemed the same - no major differences in stats when unequipped. Quickening attacks are sort of unexciting. I found them long and dull. A personalized assortment of special attacks that occur without changing to a new screen would have been better for each character.

   Also no cardgame.
