I was actually looking forward to a PS3 a year ago... Since the beginning i've been an avid Playstation fan and have disliked every other console for merely not being a Playstation. However Sony have really screwed themselves over this time. Microsoft and Nintendo didn't even have to try to beat these guys this year. They simply gone and beat themselves... Reason being. This whole Blu-ray **** What? Ok lets run this down. I live in the UK and all I get on TV commercials is 'HD this, HD that'. It's all over the place. I havn't even heard a peep out of blu-ray. Now it doesn't take a genious to work out who has won the DVD battle already. As Frostbite27 said, if blu-ray have sold next to nothing and HD the opposite then blu-ray are instantly fighting a losing war. Noone in their right mind is going to buy both blu-ray and HD. Therefore they will just get what is either out first or cheapest. Unfortunately for Sony HD wins both of those categories. As for the whole console war thing. There is no war! One side has turned up and the other is still faffing around. I've actually gone out and bought myself an XBOX 360 which i'd never of thought id do. I have many reasons for doing so and the Pro's outweight the Cons easily... Why not buy an Xbox 360 instead? You tell me... As far as I can see if I buy the PS3 I will be A: waiting for up to 6 months, B: will need to pay almost double of the Xbox, C: will be forced to buy accesories that I probably wont even end up using, D: games will be few and far between at launch and E: I wont be able to watch DVD's on it because blu-ray just isnt going far. If its going at all! Those facts are the only reason that I decided to get an Xbox 360. I was only waiting so long because obviously Xbox 360 wont have all the games PS3 will have... Or at least werent. Now that they have done the whole deal thing they will get pretty much every game PS3 will release... Only difference is that Microsoft is constantly trying to undercut sony so the games will more than likely be cheaper... I just dont see anything living for PS3. It's a shame really because I thought it would be more than a soggy let down... I really dont have anything positive to say about it... Guess Sony get what they asked for when they started pissing off their fanbase...
