Meh! Why does my character have to wait to attack? Just swing the darn thing already!

Well, it's always been that way. Final Fantasy XII uses the active time bar just like most of the others, it just isn't in the typical you stand on one side, the enemy stands on the other side format.
I hear everybody saying ths gen is a let-down, and I for one don't see it. 2007 was a great year for gaming and I think it could get even better, what with games like Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Rock Band, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, etc.
As for last gen, sure I liked it. It's probably my third favorite generation overall behind number 1 PS/N64/SAT and number 2 SNES/Genesis (even though sometimes I reverse those two). I mean, the Gamecube didn't sell so well, but as a developer, Nintendo was on fire, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Super Smash Brothers Melee, and their second parties like Retro, and formerly Silicon Knights were great as well. We saw Killer7, Silent Hill, TWO Metal Gear Solids, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and Okami pushing forward that surreal kind of postmodern gaming, we saw the fullest, liveliest worlds yet with Grand Theft Auto III and on, and we saw the rebirth of classic series' like Ninja Gaiden, and, in a different sense of the word, Resident Evil. The only thing worth ragging on the last generation for, as far as I'm concerned is RPG's. Sure you had Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos (if you turned the voice acting off), Xenosaga (if you could sit for days watching cutscenes), Bioware, and two great entries of the Final Fantasy series (XII trumps X, in my opinion) but as far as RPG's were concerned, they were mostly marginalized anime-type things, almost back to what they were BEFORE Final Fantasy VII in some regards.
