[QUOTE="JordanElek"]Wow.... Back in the day, Quest 64 was infamous for being one of the worst games ever made, rivaled only by Superman 64.goblaa

Yeah, I was about to say, I remember quest 64 being borderline unplayable...

After you learned where enemies could show up at it was a simple process of grinding to survive the dungeon and the boss. Heck, I even learned the trick to surviving the earth sorceress by avoiding the random avalanche she created. I did this approach with Hybrid Heaven and Aidyn Chronicles for similiar results.

To be honest though, I didn't realize the handheld game was a sequel. I thought it was something like Azure Dreams where the game was a shell of the console title. I'm actually interested in picking it up now, so thank you.

I thought it wasn't out till next week? In the states at least.

Darth-Samus

The game was announced for July 27th, however it has no street date. Gamestops that have copies in are selling them.

Kinda like how Gamestop released Crystal Bearers before Christmas to try actually selling copies of that game. It worked.

That's nice to do such a promo. I kinda hope this won't be the same map they give out at Gamestop on the 31st though, since it would be a waste.

If it is exclusive (and good), then I'll have to share with someone at Gen Con or track someone who was at Comic Con some other way.

Ogre Battle 64

_BlueDuck_

What? Oh yeah I did get that on VC. I got the original version back not long after that came out, but I nostalgia'd hard on Jet Force Gemini (hint: not worth it).

Honestly, you guys need to learn that a backlog of 10-20 games is nothing to complain about. Mine spans 300 games and three continents. Heck, I've bought Sega Saturn games that I know I'll never see again, plus I'm still only 5 hours into a Dragon Force save file that will never be finished, not to mention NCAA Basketball 2k3 that I played once to make sure worked then my GC memory card burnt up and I can't make a season save file. I'm not concerned about it. In fact, im 45 hours into DQ 9,realizing I've got another 200 to go, thinking about how cheap Spectrobes is and whether its worth $2.50.

You guys own these games, why rush?

Dragon Quest IX is doing quite well with review scores. I'm pretty pumped to go buy it, but I'm a bit wary because I still own and am yet to play Dragon Quest V, and I feel like playing that after IX will make it feel outdated.

_BlueDuck_

Actually, I went from three days of Etrian Odyssey and half a day of DQIV (forgot i had a second save file to finish there) straight into 9 without any feeling that what i just played is outdated. In fact, given the story of 9 compared to 5, id say it's better to play them in that order.

There are only a few things you would miss from 9, the Professor Layton vibe (I have said "Another job well done" after quests) and the drop rate, which seems to be 1/32 with a nearly 100% chance after your first encounter with the enemy. Some of the recruitment enemies in 5 are 1/256 with a separate drop rate of 1/256. That stuff isn't very fun. Thankfully I only braved it out to recruit one ogre from late game, which got harrowing when i got three of his drop before I got him.

You shouldn't care what other people play. If you don't like M Rated games then that's fine, but if other people like playing them - deal with it.

Haziqonfire

That worked until the great sellout of this generation, when every developer on the face of the earth realized they should make Mario, Zelda, and Halo clones because "other people were playing them."

We have been trying to deal with it by not buying it, but instead of realizing what horrible mistakes they made the publishers are blaming it on this mysterious force called "new IP syndrome" and making claims that if the game wasn't good the first time the sequel MUST be a million seller.

To which of course, everyone calls me a fool and throws Mass Effect 2 in my face, to which I always reply "and what else?" Because having one exception to the rule shouldn't lead an entire industry to follow the rule like lemmings.

You guys suck.

I really want to get in on this TF2 action but my compy's broken and I'm waiting for my new laptop.

bob_newman

This but replace waiting on new laptop with bought Dragon Quest IX (because when im lucky my video card isn't overheated and blasting white hot pixels everywhere).

That game is alright, the reviews aren't wrong, the game is a bit slow from the start (bout an hour between battles 1 and 2 for the intro) but that is to be expected. What I didn't expect, was how little of an E10 rating this game is. There is a LOT of innuendos and hidden meanings, and they're almost all funny. The enemies are certainly awkward but hey, that's what happens when fighting cucumbers.

As a Nintendo game, this is the closest we're getting to the jovial Captain Rainbow from NOA. As a Dragon Quest it's a little on the shy side when talking about women but very direct when talking death. Still...I want to hold the A button and make battles go faster....no small wonder you can avoid battles in this game because they just drag everything down... So be prepared for that.

And If you live in USA go to Kmart, you can get the latest Pokemon (rehash?) for $20 or the Zero Collection (or Sonic Racing as I had to) for $15 alongside DQ9 plus a $10 coupon you can actually use that day (although it only lasts til the 7th of august, which is a bit short). It really is the best deal unless you plan on buying the game alone, in which case Toys R US is offering $15 gift card that isn't redeemable until the day after purchase.

[QUOTE="SirSpudly"]

I got my DS back just in time for Dragon Quest 9. Oh glory day. Called up a few stores, one of them opened the shipping box and scanned it, but then got rejected because the machine street said no sales til sunday. Neogaf can be so mean sometimes.

I probably shouldn't be playing Etrian Odyssey while I search. Even I burn out after 200 hours.

Guilty Pleasure? Mousercise. Other Guilty Pleasure? Tenchi Muyo.

roboccs

Ill eventually get it. It looks damn fine. Report how it is when you get it

Tenchi Muyo is amazing why are you waiting to get...oh right because anime dvd's are expensive now thanks to Crunchyroll.

Nearly bought DQ9 yesterday, the display case was empty but the employee saw copies in (Friday). The only thing that kept me from owning the game was he couldn't find a bar code to scan before the main boss showed up. Then said main boss told me it could be another month (lie) and that it could cost $40-50 (lie) and that he heard it wasn't as good as console versions because his game reviewer friends (lie) didn't like their free copies and to play naughty bear because the game is good (lie) and hard (lie, broken=/= hard).

Then said boss splurged on the whole "why can't Final Fantasy be as good as it used to be" and I replied "Because they kicked everyone who worked on them out." Then his eyes opened and he walked away.

Then I had pizza and played a bit of arcade The Simpsons while i waited on it.
