[QUOTE="captainzornan"]Too little too late. They didnt care at all about the outcry a month ago but now that they see its costing them hard cash in terms of preorder numbers they wanna get in our good graces. Microsoft just told us a week ago that if we dont want 24hr check ins the 360 is for us. So forget them and their smug arrogance. They basically told us tough poo a week ago and are now saying oops. Maybe they should be asking us to forgive them and apologizing and not putting out some garbage "thanking us" You needed E3 and millions of rants to tell you DRM and online checks were a bad idea. THe 300 people that bought bionic commando 3years ago would tell you how terrible drm is let alone what happened with simcity just this year!XboxGuy1537

How is it too late? The consoles don't come out for another 4-5 months. This was a smart business move by Microsoft. They listened to the consumer and are willing to change their policies. There is no reason to be complaining about this. This is good.

While Xbox One's policies wouldn't have affected me as an end user, the arrogant DRM policy was enough to have me decide not to get the Xbox One. Now that they've pulled a 180, I may pick up one after all. I'm a big fan of Halo and I like the direction the franchise is going. It's nice to know that I might actually get to play the next game. What Microsoft didn't get is that there are also people like me. I buy games and just add them to my library. A vast majority of my games were bought brand new however, should I ever want to either sell the game or give one away, the thought of that type of restriction makes me feel like I did back when I had a timeshare. That was not a good feeling. From a business perspective, Microsoft should have seen this one coming from a mile away. Sony is going to start charging for online play just like XBL yet no one would give it another thought given that they were able to capitalize on Microsoft's DRM fiasco. Shame on you Microsoft for not taking advantage of the changes coming to Sony's next console. You took an opportunity and changed it to a black eye.

Time will tell which is more powerful however I anticipate that both consoles will be similar enough. PS4 has DDR5 however the XBO has cached RAM for buffering. All that said, I feel sympathy for people who spend their time counting pixels on games to find out if there even is a difference. That was always a fair example of looking so closely to a tree that you can't tell if you're in a forest. As for the price, they're basically charging everyone an extra $100 for Kinect. While this is risky, I think that their policy with DRM is what is most likely going to bite them.

What's killing the new Xbox is that they're going overboard with DRM. The way to fix it yet still allow games running without the disk in the console is simply to apply the following 4 steps: 1. Each disk will have a unique embedded serial. 2. If you have the disk still in the machine, you can play offline without online checks. 3. If you sell or trade-in a game, as soon as the game checks in on another console, it will fail to work on yours. 4. For games never checked in for some time, a physical disk check will be needed every 180 days. I've owned both the current Xbox 360 and the original Xbox and can tell you plainly that I'm not planning on picking up the Xbox One when it comes out later this year. Though I've never owned a Playstation, Sony did a much better job of telling consumers to get their product at this year's E3. Sony was hurt in a big way when they launched the PS3 and demanded that customers pocket out $600 for their console. It seems as though it's Microsoft's turn to fall victim to the sin of Hubris when they ask for complete control and supervision of your living room. After hearing and reading about the NSA leak on how they are essentially watching you, how close to Big Brother does anyone want to get? If they apply the 4 easy steps that I specified above, I think that both publishers and customers can be made happy. If they don't, I'll be Microsoft's turn to lose money as Sony has done for the past 6 1/2 years.

[QUOTE="Black_Knight_00"] This. The new development team didn't give a damn. Resulting in betrayal.

As far as Ubisoft goes, I'm still enjoying the Assassin's Creed franchise. It's just too bad that I can't say the same thing for all of the Splinter Cell games that I won't be playing.

They could have him die and have his "brother" go after his killer. Another option would be that Sam vanished and another agent is now searching for him. There's plenty of directions one can go with that. All they need to do now is give a damn.

To date, my girlfriend is the first girl I've ever dated that has ever asked to see any of my video games (Halo 4). That said, she doesn't play herself and has no desire to play on any regular basis. She's not a gamer. We don't live together so my video games have not been in the relationship spotlight.

With Eric Johnson and Tom Hardy taking up the voice acting for the character, I can't help but see Sam Fisher as no longer being Sam Fisher. I'm not sure why Michael Ironside is no longer doing Sam's voice but it simply isn't Sam without him. For me, it would be a lot better if they just created another character to go with the new voice actors. I'm no fan of Eric Johnson however Tom Hardy has a great voice. That said, he's still not Sam Fisher. I own every Splinter Cell game up until now. Unless they do something to fix this, the last game that I bought will be the last game that I will ever buy. For me, this is upsetting because I really liked the franchise.

The game is expected to be released tomorrow.

I created this thread for the purpose of all of you discussing this game. Unfortunately, it's not off to a good start.

IGN's review is up, which you can find here. Although reviews don't matter in the end, it may be disheartening to know that it received a very low rating. Watching the review now, it makes me want to cancel my pre-order and put the money on either Max Payne 3 or The Witcher 2. I may end up putting it on the latter if it's this bad.

In any case, for the fans that can't get enough of NG3, have at it! :)

Metamania
I did see the IGN review earlier today. I think that the reason the score is so low is because the reviewer is simply angry at the developers for not being able to keep up with the prior iterations in the series. Being someone that's enjoyed the games immensely, I can understand how being let down will actually feel like betrayal. I also read a number of other reviews. There are a number of very different opinions on the content of the games but, regardless of how IGN scored their review, it does seem that their argument has enough facts to be valid. Losing Tomonobu Itagaki was evidently a massive loss to what once was Team Ninja.

It could be that you just have a bad hard drive. If the system is covered under warranty, have Sony deal with it. If not, take the drive out and test it with a drive utility. If the drive shows any problems, replace it with a new working drive.

If they don't put an SSD drive in it (which is unlikely), I'd like the option to put one in myself. Using a standard 2.5 inch SATA drive would be great to speed up load times and cache games as they load from the optical disk. With flash getting cheaper and cheaper, should MS not want to go with BluRay, they can always use a flash format like the old Turbo Graphix 16. I honestly don't care if they use an optical disk format since I have yet to use the drive to play any movies on my 360. 3D is not a big deal right now. It's not that I don't think that 3D would be great, I just don't think that the technology is mature enough. I'm also an opponent to buying active 3D glasses. I'd be OK if they could get a better and cheaper selection of TVs that use polarized glasses instead. If Kinect doesn't work on the new system, I'd like to see some updated replacement that would continue to do what Kinect does.
