Siberian, how many members have you gained from this advertising so far? The HCU has only gained one new member, pretty pathetic. I wonder how many people actually read the community blog.

I agree with the general consensus, though I think GameSpot might be looking for more than just an active board. The content might have something to do with it also. They do need to somehow be made aware of the unions with active communities.

I disagree with the idea that the top unions are more advertised though. Well, technically they are advertised more because of the broken leveling system, but that only helps if people unfamiliar with the union system know where to look in the first place. There are almost no links anywhere on the site that lead you to the union categories page. Without a way to find that page, even a top level union like the HCU doesn't get much advertising. They need to put a link to that page under the forums tab, though I don't think they would until unions are redesigned to look uniform with the rest of the site.

In case you haven't noticed, this union has been featured on the GameSpot Community Blog. The HeadCrab Union is featured as union of the week, so I'm guessing they saw my article about my interview with you guys and decided to put you up there as well.

"A new union has surfaced in the community this week. One that is centered on the union system itself. The Council of Unions stands for the union community and focuses on providing union support, posting union features and events, and discussing union-related topics. Its long-term goal is to be the base from which unions may grow. It believes that unions need to express their needs for a revamp, and those who are interested can discuss unions and what can be done to improve them."

Thanks for the interview. Hopefully somebody takes something away from it.

I used to be in the top 20 when GameSpot still had a leader board. I don't really see why levels matter so much to everyone on this site though. They do nothing for your life. Try going up to somebody in real life and saying "You should respect me because I'm level 60 on GameSpot!" Rather than a measurement of how much respect you should get, I'd say it's a better measurement for how much of a loser you are, lol. No offense.

Yes it is in US dollars. Also, there are four days left remaining in the contest and there has been only one submission in the main contest thread. The HCU has had no submissions yet, so even if you don't think you'd be able to make something worth winning, I'd throw something in anyway, just in case the turnout is low.

I appreciate your turning it into a contest, and you paying someone if they win is pretty generous, but isn't that kind of stealing the thunder of our union, if someone from this union wins I'm sure they'd appreciate Mass Designers Lounge getting featured for the first time, rather than the HCU. Even if it is a legendary union.

I might try to enter this competition but I'd need to redownload PS. I'd be entering for a different union probably. That's irrelevant anyway because it's not like I'm going to win lol.

Sure, I can understand what you're saying there. That does make sense. You're all welcome to support your own union if you wish. I guess what I could do however is if the winning submission comes from your union, I'll stick up an article about it on our front page giving you guys props for it.

Do you do a lot of contests here? I know that usually gets people active.

Yes, this is the contest I just posted this thread about. The HCU is offering a $50 prize to anyone who wins the contest for us. I figured this would be the best place to come to spread word about it, since it's the last active design union.
