GTA 5 is not anti-man or anti-woman. It is anti-human. If some far-off alien species orders this game from Amazon, plays it a couple hours, and then considers it a primer on human behavior I expect their intergalactic death rays to be raining down on us within seconds. There is not a single sympathetic character in the whole affair. Everyone is angry. Everyone is infantile. Everyone is a scumbag. But "that's what a GTA game is, derpy-derp." Not necessarily. Niko Bellic of GTA IV was at least a relatively complex character who occasionally wrestled with ethical dilemmas. In place of moral ambiguity we get nihilism, pure utilitarianism, forced torture.

The writers and producers of this game clearly hold the human race in utter contempt. Their hatred does not discriminate: men, women, themselves. It's a shame because it is a blast to play and the world is brilliantly crafted.

I know the topic makes me sound like a wuss but I can curse like a longshoreman with tourettes when provoked. It's just that this is...too much. The occasional f-bomb? Sure, ok. Need to season the dialogue a bit with garden variety profanity? Fine. But GTAV's writing is gratuitous and infantile. It ruins the experience. I get that this is supposed to be satire on some level - a caricature of our post-modern nihilistic, consumerist, kleptocracratic, dumbed down culture, etc. But this isn't even good satire. The writing is just atrocious. At least with some kind of profanity filter I could follow the mission plots without having to turn the volume completely down. Again, I don't mind some profanity in a game but this fast becomes nails on a chalkboard.

When GTAV hits PC I guarantee a profanity filter will be one of the earliest mods available, since I will create one.

Oh, and you're right. I probably should be more concerned about the game's objectification of women and its sadistic violence instead of some swear words. But you expect sex and violence in a GTA game. What you don't expect from Rockstar is entirely juvenile writing.

I think the most disappointing thing for me is how easy it is to close out the game and just forget about it.  I am obsessive about leveling/exploring and have spent ridiculous amounts of time in other RPGs trying to create uber-max toons with god like powers and gear. GW2 just doesn't keep my interest. More than the below-average graphics and the middling combat - it's just...boring. It doesn't feel epic. I'm just a worker bee surrounded by a hive of other bees buzzing about the Tyrian countryside for who knows what end...

I loved GW1 and believe in ArenaNet's philosophy regarding MMOs, This game is a major disappointment, though.
