By the way, has anyone checked the minimum requirements for some recent games?  The minimum requirements for Vista is almost double that of XP!

So, yes, Vista is the Spawn of Evil; however, XP also was at the time.  Vista needs time, so much time!  Thus, it is extremely early for gamers to pass to Vista though (IMO).

I will not allow myself to be a Beta Tester for MS and pay for it! It must be the other way around.  I think MS has a good strategy here though?  How else can they have Beta Testers that are willing to pay huge sums of money, at least double of the worth of the finished OS IMO, to participate in the test??  Come on, people! Wake up!! We are being used!

With all the resources they have, they can make a much better OS, and in finished state.

If they are planning to release another OS on 2009 - 2010, whey ever move to Vista?  It will have just settled then.  No, no; Ireally don't think Vista is the way to go, especially for gamers and Office people, I happen to be both :-); at least not yet.

I find it funny how everyone keeps talking about how great XP is...How quickly you people forget. XP had a HORRIBLE launch, at least 10X worse than Vista. It was *really* broken... Everyone kept saying "OMFG XP sucks ass, stick with 2000 or 98"... Possibly you same people. SuperBeast

I also think that Vista may have a potential; but it is at least a year away.  What annoys me is that a company as powerful as MS releasing not-yet-ready OS like Vista is right now.  It takes aat least a year, and in some cases more, to make it really work.

Personally I hate the visual enchantments they add to every new Windows.  They are not that good, and they use to F.ing much resources.  My computer started working at half speed when I installed Vista; so I removed it after using for just a week!  I also do not like it when they change the menus and such (Especially Office 2007 sucks in that department).  They try to make every user the same, however, every user is in fact different.  I can understand the need for an OS to be easy for unexperienced users; however, some users want more control over their OS.  I think they are just trying to boost the need for MCSE's who basically know the "secrets" of Windows.

Moreover, most of the changes they make every new edition is just make-up, save for a few, but definitely not worth the money they want for it.  The changes they do may be designated as say version 1.3 from version 1.0, but not version 2.

As for DX10, the games will still support DX9 for a long time to come, because companies cannot afford to lose DX9 players who now form the majority of the gaming world.

To summarize, I think XP is still the king, but after some improvement ands some time not less than a year, Vista may take over the throne.  Of course Linux is coming; and eventually it will take them down.

Love & regards to all...

I cannot believe taht I forgot probably the best!!  Everyone into PC gaming has played at least one Sid Meier game; and I am no exception.  Civilization and Pirates are among the best games that ever came to PC!!

I have been playing games since ever!  Of course I started with Commodore 64, then Amiga, and with pentium I moved to PC.  I never thought of buying a console, because I think PC games have more depth; and console games are most muscle where PC games require more cunning and wit.

Anyway, at first I began with games like Fort Apocalypse, Game Over and F-18 on Commodore; then came Amiga and classics like Moonstone, Another World, Flashback, Kick Off 2, and many many other I cannot recall ta the moment.

Finally, PC...  There were so many wonderful games; but to name a few I must say: Dune II, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Fallout 1 and 2 (excellent!!) - BTW I still play BG and FO - Command & Conquer, GTA, Simcity, Sims, Larry (and other Lucas and Sierra Classics), Jagged Alliance 2 (I still play this one, too), X-COM series (and of course UFO), Planescape: Torment, Sanitarium, Dungeon Keeper 2, of course Championship Manager Series, and many, many more...

Of course my all time favorites would be Baldur's Gate and Fallout.  You can imagine my disappointment when I heard that BG3 was cancelled (and my hopes for Fallout 3)!  By the way, Fallout 3 is resurrected; why not anyone doing the same for BG3??  For me the series is probably the best that can ever be!!

Love & regards.
