[QUOTE="mitu123"]

[QUOTE="Roland123_basic"] dude... if you are using VGA cables you arent even displaying in HD.....VGA cannot carry an HD signal. you have to use component or HDMI to get HD resolutions....

Roland123_basic

What, I can do HD on my PC monitor with VGA cables, all the way up to 1920x1080(1080p). You know there was an update for VGA cables, right?

you realize that there is a difference between VGA (red, yellow, white or in other words, composite) cables for TV and VGA cables for computers right? composite cables for TV cannot carry an HD signal. i have no idea why he would be using the VGA computer connection for his TV, considering the 360 comes with component cables that can do HD just fine, and i have never heard of an HDTV without component connections.... hence why i am assuming by him saying VGA, he is using the composite cables.

Because my TV only supports 480P via component. If component would do higher I would obviously be using it wouldn't I.

[QUOTE="x-2tha-z"]Games look crap on my tv when I use VGA. I get a much better picture with component and HDMI.x-2tha-z

It really depends on the TV. VGA is awesome on my TV, but wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't as good on newer TV's where HDMI is standard.

Isn't the point of this topic that HD doesn't look good on your tv? There's a big difference between SD and HD on my tv. 720p and above looks awesome. You said there's not much difference but VGA works great? Does your tv have component or HDMI? If it doesn't it might be time to upgrade your tv. The fact is, if you've got a crap tv it's going to produce a crap picture. Samsung and Panasonic make great HDTV's that don't cost a fortune.

I said playing Halo on it didn't really look that much better, basically the same. Then after playing it online a bit I did notice quite a difference in colours etc, but not as much as I thought. So I came to the conclusion that Halo just doesn't look awesome in HD compared to SD.

VGA. Played some Halo 3 online and wow, the difference is quite huge. I kept dying because I was looking at the brighter, more vibrant colours etc. But in Firefight it's not much different, but the Spartans look a lot better online. Hopefully getting the 360 version of MW2 today, only played it 480i on the PS3 so will be nice to see how that looks.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Other than the heaps clearer words/menu's, and I'm sure games like Borderlands split screen will be better to play, any split screen game really, it isn't as much of a jump as I thought it would be. Will have to play more games I guess.

Honestly, I don't really care. I played it at both resolutions and other than more aliasing on the higher resolution which kinda sucked, it looked the same. All I want to know is if Halo 3 looks any better at 720P than 480P for most people, I'm thinking it wouldn't as it's not exactly a good looking game.

It's still as good as it, as I used it on both TV's and couldn't see a difference at all. You still get something like 780,000 pixels instead of 920,000.

Had this TV for years, just realised it is 720P (well, 1024x768, but basically 720P). The only 360 game I have is ODST at the moment, and I played it on my main TV and my smaller one (which is 1280x720). It looked the same on both TV's, except a bit more aliasing on the guns at the higher resolution. The menus and text look a LOT clearer, but in game it doesn't look much different, except the hud. Is this just because Halo doesn't look good at 720P?
