Sorry guys to rez this topic, but I didn't feel like starting a new thread that is pretty much identical to this one. I personally have finally been thinking about getting a Wii U after playing it for a while at my friends house here in NY. My god that console is so awesome and I love some of the games utilize the separate screen. What worries me, though, are the games. I don't see many good games out currently and the Wii U has been out for some time, if I remember correctly.

So, to summarize my question. 1.) Is this Wii U worth getting or are all of it's features just a quick hook, line and sinker? 2.) This one I should have put as my first question: Are there any good games out for it right now or any ones that are planned?

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks :)

I played the Ni No Kuni demo and thought it was okay. The world map looked great, I liked the setting and the voice actors but thought the combat left a lot to be desired. So I didn't expect it to receive the attention that it has. Amazon's price went from £31.99, pre-release, to £59.99 just a few minutes ago. That's pretty damn ridiculous for any game.

Since Gamespot have done their usual "stellar" job of reviewing the game without actually telling the reader much, can someone tell me what's so appealing about the game? The way Gamespot put it, it sounds like it's all thanks to the story. I love Level 5 (thanks to the Dark Cloud games) and want them to do well but nothing about the demo really grabbed me.

Well gamespot reviews don't usually reflect the general public's opinion of the game--it's mostly an attempt for an unbiased review by them. The only thing GS reviews are good for is just giving you a general idea of the game. And sometimes there are fantastic games out their that everyone seems to love, but don't quite click with ya. I hate it when that happens, but this might be one of those instances for you.

Personally though, I love the game thoroughly! :) The story is fleshed out wonderfully, the variety of places you visit and the vibrant world you travel in also keep me going. And as for the gameplay, I admit, it is a little frustrating at first because MP is a huge issue, initially, and you don't have full control of all your allies. However, once you get far enough and obtain all mentioned abilities/tactics, the gameplay soars from their beautifully.

This game is so good the nostalgia is killing me they really ratcheted the studio ghibli factor up to 11 with this game. and two things I love: the story is so sweet pure honest sentimental that it made me cry twice and in only about twenty hours in.. And I NEVER cry playing games. But I do love my mom so this story hits home I guess I dunno... AND 2: the gameplay is so airtight. It perfectly compliments the beautiful art direction. Come on folks, this game coulda just gotten away with being pretty but it Didnt skimp on gameplay at all. I'm just blown away so far and I have been waiting for this for forever I kinda hype things so the letdown can be pretty bad sometimes -rarely do I get overwhelmed but I don't complain. . to put my WiiU away cause this is all I wanna play. I daydream of playing this at work lol sorry for the typos - iPhone ...

I can identify with you there. I'm not a huge JRPG fan and unfortunately I only pick and try the very popular ones (which I do dearly love, actually).

BUT there is just something to Ni No Kuni that keeps me so hooked. Even though most of the game is very cute and innocent, the characters are well made, the familiars you attain give his pokemon feel to it (Yes!!! :D) and the way they created how you read and interact with the Wizard's Companion is what actually sold me the most. It's design is so elaborate and I can find myself spending hours reading through all the text and the Naz...something text too.

Whoa, Whoa, now hold the phone.

Though I do agree with most of the Sir Dan comments (Yes he may be a little bit underpowered but he is far from unplayable), I do not believe that Toro is a bad character at all--I actually main Toro. Normally I would go into detail as to how I play him and why I find him to be effective, but that would be totally off-topic. Then again, this topic on Sir Dan seems quite unpopular.

:/

I'd like to believe you can, but from what I know so far, you cannot. Me and my friend, when we first bought the game, tried figuring this out for an hour or so till we came to the conclusion that it can only be done online, not locally. :(

I've been trying to rock Sir Dan for a while but I feel I can't grasp how he is meant to be played. I personally was a huge fan of Medieval as a kid and I'm trying to make him my character. The problem is, I feel so clunkly when I play him and I just can't seem to land any good combos or build AP quickly with him.

Anyone have any tips?

Additionally, does fighting without his shield provide any benefit whatsoever?

Indeed. I was a little sad/disappointed when I found out that Goofy and Donald wouldn't be my companions in battle and in the cutscenes.

Having said that, I do not, and no one else, knows how the whole KH storyline will pan out. It's very likely the dream eaters will have a good spot in the story and perhaps aid future plot lines. (I hope at least...)

I still miss Goofy and Donald though /:
