Do NOT buy Alienware. You can save hundreds of dollars just building it yourself.

Try to back off the overclock, or supply a LITTLE more voltage (baby steps here). Then run Prime95 for at least an hour to see if the overclock is stable. If it still shuts down, it is likely a PSU issue. Get a bigger one.
1. For a case, I would recommend this. Great wiring options, room for everything, great fan setup and just a really high quality case.
2. You will find the R9 280x for cheaper. Since the new Geforce cards came out, AMD is basically liquidating the 2xx series. Check the benchmarks and see what works best for the games you play. But bang-for-buck would definitely go to the AMD cards.
3. Yeah, you should be good.
You should be fine. If you notice choppy gameplay, just turn down some settings.
In the last several years, I had a Radeon 4890, then a 7850. Never had any issues with either of them. From what I understand, most of the driver issues had to do with crossfire setups and a few launch-day AAA games. AMD/ATI has historically had driver issues in Linux as well, but most people on this forum don't use Linux so that is moot. Supposedly that has been cleaned up as well in the last few years.
As far as upgrading, I would wait. The R9 3XX series is getting ready to come out in a few months.
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2, Icewind Dale 1 & 2, Dragon Quest 8 & 9, Persona 3 & 4, All of the 'Tales of' games, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Ni No Kuni to name a few.
