There seems to be a general trend in this thread. Anyway, the genres that have never really interested me include:

- Racing
- Fighting
- Dance/Music
- Simulation
- Platformers

Couldn't resist a few more additions in the last couple of days...

Total War Mega Pack
Amanita Bundle
Splinter Cell Double Agent
Activision Hits Collection (consisting of CoD 1 & 2 & UO, Transformers: War for Cybertron, Singularity, Timeshift, GUN, Prototype, Blur, Vampire: Bloodlines)
Death To Spies Gold

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (digital replacement because my disc version of the game had StarForce - Burn it with FIRE!)

That doesn't even count all the games I bought for my son as well.

My wallet is now officially deceased.

The original Call of Duty and the United Offensive expansion are my favourites in the series.

I stopped getting them after World At War.

- Just Cause (the first one)
- Sniper Elite V2
- Crysis 2 Maximum Edition
- Assassin's Creed 2
- Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
- Dungeon Siege 3 (yes, I know it's bad :P )
- Mount and Blade: Warband

- Left 4 Dead Bundle
- Indiana Jones & The Fate Of Atlantis
- Payday: The Heist
- Alice: Madness Returns
- Bioshock 2
- Trine 2
- STALKER: Clear Sky

The following games I have on disc (either PC or console), but I wanted a digital copy for various reasons:

- Dark Sector
- Mirror's Edge
- RAGE
- Age Of Empires III Complete (technically I didn't have the expansions before)
- Fallout 3: GOTY
- Hitman: Blood Money
- Max Payne Bundle
- Bioshock
- SW: KOTOR
- GRAW 2
- Brothers In Arms Trilogy
- Mafia

I'm in no rush for it. later this year is fine. nutcrackr

Exactly this. I'd rather they take their time to polish and balance it as much as possible.

Good to hear, although I probably won't be preordering any more games in future. I'll definitely be picking up Darksiders II soon after release, though.

This seems like a good idea on the face of it - but popularity is not always a measure of a good game. I'd hate to see some interesting good quality niche titles get overlooked because not enough people voted for them to be included. There should really be a balance between what the majority of the community vote onto Steam, while still having a more structured selection process.

After all, a game that doesn't sell well normally could have a massive boost during a Steam sale.

Additionally, maybe Steam should take this to the other end of the scale, and allow the community to vote off some of the truly dire bug-infested and broken/unfinished games that are somehow allowed onto the service.

These would be my top 3 choices...

- Dishonored
- Borderlands 2
- Torchlight II

But I'm also really looking forward to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Darksiders 2 and Sleeping Dogs.

[QUOTE="RobertBowen"]

When I was in University, back in the late 1980s, the Student's Union had some arcade machines (including the Star Wars one) so I spent many a happy hour on those. I also got introduced to the Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy (text adventure).

But I didn't actually start seriously gaming on PC until around 1987/88. So I've been PC gaming for around 25 years at this point.

kraychik

Did you ever play those text-based BBS (bulletin-board-system) games? Where you got a fixed amount of turns per day and fought for gold and weapons and stuff?

Sadly not. :( I only rarely accessed BBS, back in the day, and not for gaming. :/

Couldn't play a female character in any CoD, didn't hear people complain about that. Couldn't play a female character in Battlefield 3, nobody complained about that...

Who cares. Stupid feminism.

Wasdie

The difference being that Aliens: Colonial Marines is based on a well-known movie franchise that features strong female characters. Vasquez was not the only female marine in Aliens, there were a couple of others, including the pilot of the dropship. So not having playable female marines (in multiplayer at least) for this game seems like a very odd decision.
