I have no sympathy for this man.

With one hand, he complains of "big government" taxing him too much, promoting some nonsensical notion of "personal responsibility".

With the other hand, he takes $75 million from the people of Rhode Island to make a damn video game and refuses to pay the money back.

He's not just an incompetent businessman, he's a hypocrite to boot.

Hideo Kojima is full of crap.

You don't make a ten-minute fully-rendered and voice-acted teaser trailer for a game you don't think will be published. Clearly, this clown is just fishing for press.

"Ground Zeroes"? And here I was thinking "Revengeance" was the stupidest game title of the year.

I can appreciate what Tom is saying regarding responsible deployment of violence in video games, but at the same time the fact remains there is no empirical evidence showing a significant correlation between violent video games and violent behavior.

I'm a scientific skeptic. If the science says there's a problem with violent video games, then I will agree to some kind of legislation that would limit graphic violence or the sale of these games to minors, but in the absence of such evidence I cannot justify the infringement upon the free speech of video game developers, or my right to enjoy whatever media I so choose.

@Grenadeh That is not correct. Initial reports that the AR-15 had not been used were later revealed to be erroneous. The weapon taken from the shooter's vehicle was a Saiga 12-gauge shotgun. The chief medical examiner's report showed the victims' wounds to be consistent with those inflicted by a "long gun". So yes, the shooter used the AR-15.

You must take care to be skeptical of initial reports aired in the aftermath of such events. For the sake of ratings, the news media rushes to report before all the facts are in, and oftentimes reports incorrect information. Bear in mind, the initial reports indicated there were two shooters (there were not) and named the shooter's brother (who was nowhere near the scene) as the primary suspect.
