There would not have been a civil war in first place if Lincoln did not invade the south the Confederacy's secession from the Union was actually legal at the time so it was the North who was the aggressor. Lincoln did not fight to end slavery but to keep the South in the Union he also supported slavery before the war and allowed it to continue in the North during the war as well. It was the 13th Amendment passed after the war that ended slavery in the United States. A lot of the civil war history taught in school is more myth than fact.
Actually the south succeed was not legal , even if you argue that they are using the right to revolt against a tyrant government like they did against England.
The North was within their right to defend America as a whole.
Wrong, there was no provision for succession in the Constitution so it was a power delegated to the states by the 10th amendment of the constitution therefore it was legal.
