Ah... Guild Wars 2 has no monthly fee to play. It is an exception but why not mention it? Path of Exile is free to download and play but I don't think it is a real MMO.

I'm gearing up to play ESO but will only play largely Solo and call it quits at some point which is what I did with GW2. There will be times needing group help for sure no doubt--just like GW2.

I might finish in a couple months which will only cost me the game and one month's fee. If I get as much out of the game as I expect that cost will be well worth it.

But my main concern right now is how bug free the playing really is? I remember playing Skyrim soon after it was released and being _very_ disappointed in a few of its bugs.

I won't be signing any petitions and I look forward to the regular ES series continuing too.

Something else I need to focus on...

Will it be easy enough to stay away from PvP in ESO when so desired (99.9% of the time) like it was easily done in GW2?

Have you been playing a beta? The game is being released this April, 2014. Have you enjoyed Solo. Have you actually reached level 50 as Solo only or how do you know that is possible?

Is joining any group as easily managed as it is in GW2? I played that for some time so I'm not opposed to having to join a group or get aid from others on occasion.

It will be interesting to see if ESO scores better with a monthly fee then GW2 scores with its one-time purchase--whether the look and feel is any better then GW2 for the money?

Any talk heard as to whether ESO is the end point of The Elder Scrolls saga or not? I suppose if the programmers have changed bases though that there won't be any single player Elder Scrolls VI?

I can put in a lot of work into this gaming genre but hundreds of hours later if there is still no final conclusion I will stop at some point--especially if I feel like I'm wasting away the monthly fee and absolutely if I'm paying extra for added content beyond the monthly fee. Even GW2 Solo after the final Group battle had a great point where one could quit and feel like they fulfilled 99% of the game. I hope I will be able to measure something like that with ESO too?

Thanks.

Q: Though MMO, will The Elder Scrolls Online allow a Solo (single player--no groups) player to get through the entire game from beginning to a good-enough ending conclusion?

This is important to me because I've played the entire series up to now Single Player and it will be a game changer for me if I cannot continue successfully single player/solo. I'm not concerned about the monthly online charge so long as the game has an ending. If it month after month continues to draw me into further game play with no new content or replaying the entire game at a more difficult level just to reach new content, like Path of Exile does, I will lose interest.

What is the problem with GameSpot and/or Metacritic making it clear up-front in their review synopsis and/or in the game specs easily seen if a title is multiplayer only or if there is a single player campaign or not? There was nothing wrong listing games 'single player' and/or 'mulitplayer' but NO, now you've got to make it a f-ing secret. And if it is multiplayer online only you can still make it obvious or not whether one could play a solo roll and stay clear of PvP or not such as Guild Wars 2 successfully does. Even 'Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition', once logged in and verified allowed the player to go offline and play a solo game without worrying about PvP.

I've spent half an hour determining that Titanfall has no single player campaign which means I've lined it off my list of games to play. Thanks a lot for making this process clear as mud!

[I have no idea where this is being posted or how it has been categorized. The game I'm concerned with is 'Titanfall'. Under that title I clicked on the Forums link and was taken to this location. Is GameSpot still in a mess?]

Never heard of the term before and no doubt it points to my ignorance being an exclusive (except for Guild Wars 2) Single Player gamer. Looked around here and couldn't find an explanation--only numerous use of the word. Thanks.

Sorry, I have yet a further comment I should make here that is very complex no doubt:

Take 'The Last of Us' for example. I only played the Single Player 'campaign' and as far as I'm concerned for that it deserves something far better then an '8' score. I gave it a '10' and for me it represents one of the if not the best game overall I have played in over 30 years of gaming. I had maybe a couple glitches the whole time.

BUT, when you have to consider numerous Multi Player gaming issues I have read about I can understand how the rating has to drop to '8' overall. And many gamers (not me) live for Multi Player gaming. But it isn't fair at all to the real game.

I think Single Player and Multi Player should be separated and the reviews separated.

@edgework: I've written some short reviews/thoughts on a game only to find them to short so I've abandoned them. I rate the game just because I can and haven't to date used GameSpot to compose any lists of games I've played and/or how I have rated them. I do that tracking in my own Word document.

I didn't find a more proper forum so I will post this here too:

All of your game reviews need to break out clearly and not just maybe buried somewhere in the review whether the game is Single Player, Multi Player, MMO, and if MMO whether Solo is possible or not. This is an oversight that has gone on for to long and ALWAYS when it isn't clear (even in Steam's Store) seems to be one of the first things I post here or there in a forum. It should be 'in my face' like the release date and genre are imo.

@Smashbrossive50 said:

no need, it's what it says. site enhancements can be included in a feedback

I think right now that Enhancements needs to be emphasized and doesn't hurt. One could say bug reports being a form of feedback doesn't need to be in the forum title either. Feedback can be a bottomless pit where an OP never gets any feedback in return. I like getting feedback back--it always means someone somewhere has read my suggestions whether they have liked them or not.

1. Add or restore the GameSpot basic avatar picture selection on site so we can get rid of that whatever you call it default picture.

2. Expand the game filter to include selecting multiple genres along with _excluding_ multiple genres that you are not interested in. This would be _huge_ for me.

3. Include in the 'Listing' of the filtered games what the basic _Genre_ is. Also include in this same results list whether the game includes a Single-Player campaign, Multi-Player, MMO, and if _MMO_ can one play _Solo_! The later would be _huge_ for me too. Unfortunately this sort of basic information is sometimes VERY Hard to find from any given reviews (absent or hidden). It needs to be spelled out right with the release date and genre information.

Multi-Player exclusive games I would ideally love to filter out of a game results list--along with several genres I have no interest in. Seeing these changes would be really great.
